William Shatner, the famous 95-year-old actor best known for Star Trek, has announced he beat stage four cancer. Remarkably, his daughter, Melanie, was also battling cancer at the same time, and both are now in remission. Shatner says he’s feeling healthier than he has in a long time.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, Melanie shared that she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2022. Shortly after, in the following year, her father also received a cancer diagnosis after doctors found a lump on his cheek.
Doctors discovered he had an aggressive form of skin cancer, originally thought to be a problem with his salivary gland. Unfortunately, the cancer had already spread to his lungs and brain.
After both beating cancer by the end of 2024, William and Melanie are excited to launch their new wellness podcast, No Time But Now, later this month.
Melanie shared that her father continued living his life as normally as possible despite being ill. He kept working and stayed active, and Melanie and her husband, Joel, would regularly visit him, bringing meals and watching movies together to keep him company.
