Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Wraps Filming On Final Season

The director of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has bid a fond farewell as filming on the show’s final episode wrapped up. Production on the sixth and final episode, completing the show’s fifth season, has finished in Toronto.

Paramount+ has ordered a final, six-episode season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which will premiere after the third season begins in June 2025. Season 4 recently finished filming and is slated to launch on Paramount+ in 2023, with the fifth season expected in 2027.

Chris Fisher, a producing director on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, shared a heartfelt farewell on Instagram Reels as he took one last look at the Starship Enterprise bridge set. In the video, he discusses his long-time love of Star Trek, how he became involved with Strange New Worlds, and expresses his gratitude for the experience. You can watch the video here:

Chris Fisher was the producing director for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, meaning he chose the other directors and established the show’s visual style. He also directed six episodes, including the season one finale, “A Quality of Mercy,” the season three premiere, “Hegemony, Part 2,” and the series finale.

The cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have been saying goodbye on Instagram now that filming has finished. Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Martin Quinn, and Jess Bush have all posted messages as they wrap up their work on the show and head home for the holidays.

Filming has finished on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, marking the end of production for the actors and crew on set. However, work will continue into 2026 as the team focuses on editing and finishing the fifth and final season. Throughout 2026, the cast and producers will also be promoting both season 4 and, later, season 5 of the show.

It’s uncertain if Star Trek: Year One, a potential spinoff series focusing on Captain Kirk’s (Paul Wesley) initial year in command of the Starship Enterprise, will actually be made. However, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has finished its five-season run.

I’m so relieved to hear that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds isn’t ending anytime soon! Because they filmed so much in advance, we still have a whole 16 episodes of seasons 4 and 5 coming to Paramount+ over the next few years, and I can’t wait to watch them!
