Star Trek: Strange New Worlds just completed a shocking first

As a lifelong Star Trek fan who’s attended more conventions than I can count, I must say that seeing the entire Strange New Worlds crew together for the first time was nothing short of breathtaking. It’s like a dream come true, and it makes me feel old when I realize that we might not get these moments with the original cast or even the Next Generation crew for much longer.

As a dedicated fan, I can confidently say that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds proudly carries the torch for the Paramount-owned franchise. This remarkable series has solidified its position as the leading force for the brand, significantly boosting the subscriber base of Paramount+. Simply put, it’s one of the best shows out there. With an impressive track record achieved in just two seasons, they continue to reach new heights and exceed expectations.

Though this achievement seems less impressive when you realize how easy it should’ve been.

For approximately four years since its initial announcement, the main cast of the leading Star Trek series had never convened together at any convention—that is, until this year. As reported by ScreenRant, an unprecedented gathering took place at Star Trek Las Vegas: Trek to Vegas, where the entire Strange New Worlds crew finally assembled for the first time.

The gathering, titled “STLV: Trek to Vegas”, brought Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Christina Chong, Dan Jeannotte, Melissa Navia, Bruce Horak, Jess Bush, Babs Olusanmokun, Celia Rose Gooding, and Melanie Scrofano onto the same stage for the first time. Typically, due to the large cast, they’re either featured in separate discussions or not all are present.

In this setup, all participants took turns, and they each appeared on distinct panels. The first panel consisted of Navia, Bush, Chong, Jeannotte, and Horak, while the second panel featured Mount, Romijn, Peck, Gooding, and Scrofano. Interestingly, Carol Kane was present too, but it seems she wasn’t part of the main discussions as she didn’t seem to join the other core team members on stage.

Apart from others, Paul Wesley – known for portraying James T. Kirk in the series – was not part of the festivities. Instead, he conducted a separate interview to kick off the event on Thursday due to a previous commitment in Paris related to the Olympics.

It might appear insignificant, but these instances aren’t always within our reach. Regrettably, only three actors from the Original Series are still living. The crew of The Next Generation are all over 65 years old, and many other actors from various series are getting on in age as well. Tragically, we’ve already lost one of the younger cast members from the 2009 Star Trek film, Anton Yelchin.

It’s quite uncommon for everyone involved in a show – cast and crew alike – to gather together in one place. So, when such an occasion arises, it’s definitely worth celebrating!
