Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 4th season is going to start filming soon

As a hardcore Star Trek fan who’s been following this franchise since the days of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and impatience at the news about Strange New Worlds. The fourth season order is like manna from heaven for us diehards, and the fact that they’re already planning for season five makes me wonder if they’ve got a time crystal hidden somewhere!

Fans appear to be patiently waiting (for what seems like forever) for the third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The third installment of this popular series is slated for a 2025 debut, with many speculating it will air during summer. Despite uncertainty about season three’s launch, we’re receiving more and more updates regarding season four.

Despite Season 3 of the show being ongoing, it was given a green light for a fourth season because of its immense popularity. This latest addition to the franchise, Strange New Worlds, is an unprecedented success in recent years, or perhaps even decades. It has successfully brought together both old and new fans with a fresh production that manages to feel modern while still being comfortably familiar.

The mix of elements in this series has earned it numerous accolades and made it highly popular among viewers, leading many to anticipate the release of a fourth season. In fact, given its success, it seems quite unexpected that there hasn’t yet been an announcement for a fifth season.

Although season three has been delayed due to two consecutive setbacks in 2023, it appears that we won’t have to wait as long for season four of the show. As per franchise lead actress Jess Bush, filming for season four is expected to start much earlier than anticipated.

Bush spoke to PIX11 News (via TrekMovie.com) about the upcoming new season, telling them;

“Season 4 starts shooting in March, next year.”

In the series, Bush (who portrays Nurse Chapel) has suggested a possible earlier release for the third season than previously anticipated. He further indicated to the media outlet that the third season might premiere as early as 2025.

It’s terrific news indeed! Given the tradition of frequent releases in Star Trek, the cancellation of numerous series has left a void. As it stands, Lower Decks is nearing its end with its fifth and concluding season, streaming on Paramount+.

Following this, there’s Star Trek: Section 31, a movie set to debut on Paramount+ on January 24, 2025. After that, we’re left wondering what might come next. We’re hopeful that the early release in 2025 will actually take place as planned.
