Roberto Orci, a writer and producer of hit films and television shows, died Tuesday at age 51.
Orci played a crucial role in several blockbuster movies from the late 2000s, such as the Transformers films and the Star Trek reboots, and he also teamed up with J.J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman to develop the science fiction thriller series Fringe.
According to Variety, he died at his home in Los Angeles from kidney disease.
