Star Trek: Prodigy season one topped over one million viewers in six months on Netflix
As a die-hard Star Trek: Prodigy fan who’s been through more than my fair share of intergalactic adventures, I can confidently say that the release of season one on Netflix was like stumbling upon an ancient Vulcan artifact hidden deep within a nebula. The excitement was palpable when all twenty episodes dropped on Christmas Day 2023, giving us fans a chance to revisit the series after it mysteriously vanished from Paramount+ earlier that year.
2023 Christmas brought an extraordinary surprise for Star Trek: Prodigy enthusiasts as all twenty episodes of season one became available on Netflix on December 25th. Since its cancellation and removal from Paramount+ in April 2023, fans had been yearning to rewatch the series. According to Waltke’s post, it has garnered more than 33,000 views, and admirers are expressing their desire for a third season of the show due to this popularity. The enthusiastic fans of Prodigy have even flown an airplane banner over Netflix headquarters, urging the streaming service to renew the series for another season.

The success of the series isn’t unexpected for those who follow it, since we recognize great Star Trek when it appears. And let me tell you, Prodigy delivers on quality. In fact, it deserves to be called classic Trek because it recalls the era of The Original Series and demonstrates why the franchise has remained popular over time and what makes it relevant today.
It could take a while before we hear about Season 3, perhaps even up to two or three years after its renewal. However, given the dedicated fanbase, there won’t be a lack of viewers despite the wait. Patience is valued when it comes to quality content, and Prodigy stands as one of the top Star Trek series currently streaming on Netflix today.
