Star Trek: Prodigy fans take their request for a renewal to the skies over Netflix offices
As a lifelong Star Trek enthusiast who has been following this saga since I was a kid, I must say that the dedication and ingenuity of the fans never ceases to amaze me. The aerial banner campaign over Netflix offices to demand a renewal for Star Trek: Prodigy is nothing short of remarkable. It’s heartening to see such passion and unity among fans, who are willing to go to great lengths to ensure their beloved series continues.
Following the cancellation of Star Trek: Prodigy by Paramount+ in 2023, passionate viewers were left devastated. Eager to witness the second season that was already being made, they initiated a movement culminating in an airborne banner above Netflix’s offices in Hollywood. Now that the second season has been broadcasted on Netflix, there has been no hint of a third season renewal for the series, so fans have stepped up to ensure Netflix is aware of their unwavering devotion.
On August 23rd, a plane carrying a sign reading “RENEW STAR TREK PRODIGY! SPEED UP!” flew overhead, circling Netflix’s offices for an hour. This was orchestrated by fan Michele Stokes from the UK. [Source: Trekmovie]
Kate Mulgrew acknowledged and thanked her fans’ dedication in a tweet, using the hashtag #setacourseforseason3. She also reshared a video by Stokes that had garnered more than 90k views on Twitter, depicting a plane circling over Netflix, hinting at the anticipation for season 3.
I’m utterly amazed! There’s no fanbase quite like that of Star Trek. A huge thank you goes out to Michele and everyone who donated – your kindness warms my heart. Continuing the Prodigy journey on @netflix fills me with pride, and here’s hoping for a course set for Season 3! 🙌🏻🛫

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that thanks to the overwhelming support from fellow enthusiasts, we successfully crowdfunded our project again! Many of us pitched in the necessary funds, and with some left over, we were able to donate to UNICEF. Trekmovie got in touch with Stokes who revealed the motivations behind this second aerial campaign.
“We wanted to amplify the demand for this that exists on social media and within the fandom, and thought the best, most direct way was to repeat the stunt that helped push Netflix towards picking the series up in the first place.”
Aaron Waltke, the Series executive producer, posted a clip taken by enthusiastic fan Jessica Edmonds. She managed to capture the series banner while it soared above the office buildings. Waltke thanked the fans for their unwavering dedication and affection towards the show, and invited everyone to continue watching.

If Netflix decides to renew Star Trek: Prodigy for a third season, the show’s creators, Dan and Kevin Hageman, have hinted that there might be up to a three-year wait until more episodes are released. However, based on the second fan campaign we’ve seen, it seems that Prodigy fans remain dedicated and aren’t planning to disappear anytime soon.
