Star Trek: Picard actress was "gutted" when she learned her character was being killed

As a die-hard Star Trek fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for Stephanie Czajkowski. Her journey from an unknowing auditionee to a valued crew member on the USS Titan is nothing short of extraordinary. The allure of standing on that iconic bridge was undoubtedly a dream come true, one she knew wouldn’t last forever.

In the third season of Star Trek: Picard, Stephanie Czajkowski discovered her character, who was half-Deltan and half-Vulcan, serving on the bridge of the USS Titan under Captain Liam Shaw [Todd Stashwick]. Initially unaware that she was auditioning for a role in Star Trek, it wasn’t until Czajkowski found herself on this legendary bridge that she realized her time there would be limited. Every day, she would take in her surroundings and appreciate the significance of being a part of such an “iconic setting,” knowing that it was an experience that wouldn’t last forever.

According to Czajkowski, her assumption about the series ending was incorrect. In fact, her character T’Veen didn’t survive until the end of the season; she was killed in the eighth episode titled “Surrender.” The news of her character’s demise came from the episode’s director, Deborah Kampmeier. Czajkowski was deeply saddened upon learning that her character would be executed and felt disappointed because she wouldn’t get to see her character through to the series finale. In the world of Star Trek, many fans speculate how a Starfleet officer might reappear if Star Trek: Legacy were to resume production. According to Czajkowski, she has a collection of ideas for Terry Matalas. Interestingly, this doesn’t seem like a concern for Matalas, as he mentioned T’Veen could have a twin or some other solution to her death.

I mean, I would love to be a part of it, of course, because I love those people so much. But more importantly, I just want it to happen.

If an opportunity to rejoin Star Trek presents itself, Czajkowski won’t miss it. She even dreams about her character coming back to life if Star Trek: Legacy gets approved, and she’s eager to see Jeri Ryan’s character, Seven of Nine, commanding the Enterprise. Isn’t that something we all hope for?
