Star Trek icon William Shatner, 94, jokes about his DEATH as he breaks silence after ‘medical emergency’

William Shatner, the famous actor known for Star Trek, joked about a recent health scare as he publicly addressed concerns about his well-being.

William Shatner, 94, best known for playing Captain Kirk in Star Trek, was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon due to a blood sugar issue, according to sources familiar with the situation.

He was said to have experienced the health downturn while at his home in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ sources, he was reportedly taken to a hospital for check-up. But his agency later said he wasn’t hospitalized.

The celebrity posted a funny message on Instagram on Thursday, jokingly referencing rumors about their death with the quote: ‘Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.’

He added: ‘I over indulged. I thank you all for caring but I’m perfectly fine.’

William Shatner continues to work on acting roles and makes appearances at fan conventions, such as Dragon Con in Atlanta, where he participated in a panel discussion just last month.

His agency Talent Works, however, denied Shatner went to the hospital, according to ABC 7 News.

This new health issue arises more than a year after William Shatner shared that he had overcome cancer, after a previous diagnosis of stage four melanoma.

He shared that he had surgery followed by immunotherapy as treatment, but he didn’t say when, as reported by Managed Healthcare Executive.

In 2016, he was initially diagnosed with prostate cancer, but it turned out to be a mistake. A sudden increase in his PSA levels-a protein made by the prostate gland-led doctors to believe he had the disease.

“It was truly frightening,” Shatner told NBC News. “A doctor informed me I had a terminal illness and wouldn’t have much time left.”

He explained his high PSA levels were likely caused by testosterone supplements he used to take, and he has since stopped taking them.

William Shatner is most famous for his role as Captain Kirk on the original Star Trek series, which aired from 1966 to 1969.

The show starred Leonard Nimoy as Spock, DeForest Kelley as Dr. Leonard McCoy, James Doohan as Scotty, and Nichelle Nichols as Uhura.

As a lifelong Trekkie, seeing William Shatner return as Captain Kirk was always a thrill! He wasn’t just in the original series, but he brilliantly brought Kirk to life in the animated show and all seven of the original Star Trek movies – especially *Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan* which, let’s be honest, is a masterpiece!

He also became well-known later in his career for playing the lead role in the 1980s police drama *T.J. Hooker* and for hosting a beauty pageant in the 2000 film *Miss Congeniality*, a comedy starring Sandra Bullock.

William Shatner remains active in his career, with three new projects listed on his IMDb page. Recently, there’s been talk about a possible remarriage, sparking rumors about his personal life.

Elizabeth Martin, his fourth ex-wife and nearly thirty years younger at 66, separated from him in 2019 but they got back together when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

In August, Martin and her companion were seen having lunch at Jon & Vinny’s in Los Angeles, and Martin was wearing a noticeable diamond ring on her ring finger.

According to a witness who spoke with the Daily Mail, the two individuals arrived in different vehicles but then spent about an hour together inside the restaurant before leaving.

The couple had been married for 18 years and divorced in early 2020. As part of the divorce settlement, which was based on their prenuptial agreement, he paid her a one-time alimony payment of $2 million, according to TMZ.

Both Shatner and Martin are passionate about horses – Shatner breeds them, and Martin used to compete. When they divorced, they split their four horses equally, but Shatner kept all the horse-related equipment and even the stored semen for breeding.

The couple found their way back to each other quickly during the pandemic, and he said last year that it felt like they were married again, even though they hadn’t officially made it legal.

In an interview with Parade, he explained that a remarriage with Martin was probably not going to happen, because of practical issues related to their previous divorce.

He told the magazine last March that while he and his ex-wife didn’t grow apart due to dislike, the reasons for their divorce were practical ones he hoped to avoid repeating in the future.

In February, Radar Online reported that Steve Martin and William Shatner were planning to marry, but Martin’s representative said the story wasn’t true.

According to a source close to the couple, he was deeply unhappy without Elizabeth. He’s now certain he never wants to be apart from her again, and she feels the same. He can’t stop talking about how much he loves her, and their connection feels incredibly youthful and passionate – like a teenage romance.

I’ve heard the couple are planning something really intimate this time! They’ve decided they don’t want a huge, elaborate wedding. Instead, they’re dreaming of a small, meaningful ceremony with just their closest family and friends. It sounds perfect for them!

I’ve been a fan of William Shatner for years, and I always found it interesting learning about his personal life. He’s been married a few times, and his first two wives were both fascinating women. Gloria Rand was a Canadian actress, and his second wife, Marcy Lafferty, came from a Hollywood family – her father was producer Peter Lafferty. It’s a part of his story that shows how much he’s experienced!

He married Nerine Kidd, his third wife, in 1997. Tragically, she died two years later at age 40, drowning in their swimming pool. An autopsy revealed she had alcohol and Valium in her system.

In his autobiography, he wrote that Kidd struggled with alcohol, being drunk as early as 8 a.m. the morning after their wedding. Despite multiple attempts at rehab, Kidd was never able to stay sober for good.

In his autobiography, William Shatner wrote that his relationship with Elizabeth Martin started after he received letters of condolence following the death of his wife, Kidd. He remembered Martin’s name because they both shared a passion for horses.

The couple married in 2001. After a brief separation, they reconciled, and he has consistently expressed his admiration for her – in a 2023 interview with The Mirror, he even called her ‘the zest of life’.

William Shatner has three daughters – Leslie, Lisabeth, and Melanie – all from his marriage to his first wife. Leslie is 67, Lisabeth is 64, and Melanie is 61.
