Star Trek icon Brent Spiner makes a rare sighting at 77, see him now

Brent Spiner, best known for his role in Star Trek, recently looked energetic and fit while out for a walk in the Hollywood Hills at age 77.

He became well-known for his role as Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Data was a highly intelligent, artificial being—an android—who served as a crew member aboard the starship USS Enterprise-D.

Patrick Stewart, beloved as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, starred in the show alongside actors like Brent Spiner, Whoopi Goldberg, and LeVar Burton.

Like Leonard Nimoy’s Spock in the original Star Trek, Data was intelligent and mysterious, serving a similar purpose in the show.

As a longtime Star Trek fan, I was thrilled to see Brent Spiner return as Data! He’s truly become iconic in the role, and it’s been wonderful seeing him reprise it not just in the classic films, but also in the newer shows like Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks. It really adds a special touch for us longtime fans.

People recently spotted the actor, now with gray hair, wearing a relaxed outfit: an open olive green hoodie over a black t-shirt.

Oh my gosh, Brent Spiner started way back in the seventies, performing on stage in New York! But can you believe he was in the very first cast of ‘Sunday in the Park with George’? It’s such a legendary show, and he was part of the original magic! I’ve seen it countless times, knowing he was there at the beginning just makes it even more amazing.

The musical featured music by Stephen Sondheim and a story by James Lapine. Mandy Patinkin played the artist Georges Seurat, and Bernadette Peters starred as his inspiration, Dot. Brent Spiner also appeared in two smaller roles.

In 1984, the same year the musical Sunday in the Park with George debuted on Broadway, Brent Spiner moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television.

After appearing in guest roles on shows like Night Court and Cheers, he secured the part of Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987.

Spiner played his character on the show for all seven seasons, which aired from 1987 to 1994. He also reprised the role in four Star Trek movies released between the 1990s and the early 2000s: Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis.

While he’s best known for his role in Star Trek, he’s also appeared as a guest star on many other popular TV shows, such as Friends, Mad About You, The Blacklist, and The Big Bang Theory.

He’s worked on a variety of films, including the blockbuster Independence Day, the comedy Dude, Where’s My Car?, the animated musical South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, and Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator.

Spiner continued to perform in stage productions, including revivals of the musicals 1776, which tells the story of the American Revolution, and Man of La Mancha, based on the novel Don Quixote.

Dedicated fans recently enjoyed his work on Star Trek: Picard, which aired from 2020 to 2023, and could also hear him in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks in 2024.

I’m so excited to share some news! Just a month ago, I let everyone know that I’m teaming up with my wonderful Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star, Jonathan Frakes – you probably know him as Riker – to launch a brand new celebrity interview podcast. We’re really looking forward to chatting with some fascinating people and sharing those conversations with you all!

The show, called ‘Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny,’ is definitely not a Star Trek podcast, according to the hosts in their first YouTube video.

They’ve accepted their situation and are now at peace with the idea of discussing the show that made them famous on their podcast.
