Star Trek Captain Joins Blue Bloods Spinoff in a Shocking Twist!

The hotly-anticipated offshoot adds a fan-favorite Star Trek: Discovery star to its leading cast.

According to reports, Star Trek: Discovery actress Sonequa Martin-Green has officially agreed to join Blue Bloods spin-off as a co-star, working alongside longtime series star Donnie Wahlberg. In this new role, Martin-Green will play Lena Peters, a Boston detective partnered with Wahlberg’s Detective Danny Reagan after his transfer from New York City. The duo quickly discover a shared bond, as it is revealed that, like Danny, Lena is the eldest child in a family deeply rooted in Boston’s law enforcement history for generations.

Under the leadership of co-showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, along with executive producers Jerry Bruckheimer from Jerry Bruckheimer Television, KristieAnne Reed, and Mark Wahlberg, “Boston Blue” is set to make its debut this Fall. This new series departs from “Blue Bloods,” which was created by Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess and produced through CBS, Panda Productions, The Leonard Goldberg Company, and Paw in Your Face Productions.

The Blue Bloods Franchise Continues

Initially debuting in 2010, the police drama series “Blue Bloods” swiftly became a hit among viewers and was known as the latest sensation in its genre. The story revolves around the Reagan family members, including characters portrayed by Len Cariou (as retired Commissioner Henry Reagan) and Bridget Moynahan (Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan). Known for its impressive ratings and critical acclaim, the sudden termination of the show in December was quite unexpected. Over a period of 14 seasons and 293 episodes, “Blue Bloods” eventually concluded its run.

Starting in March, Wahlberg expressed his eagerness to continue the tradition, reveal numerous surprises, address some lingering questions, and invite everyone – welcome to “Boston Blue”! The next installment in the “Blue Bloods” saga is about to unfold, as he wrote. I’m thrilled about it. See you on CBS this fall! This announcement came shortly after the news that Wahlberg would reprise his role as Detective Danny Reagan in “Boston Blue,” which initially had no link to “Blue Bloods.” However, following a positive response from the network, the script was adapted into the “Blue Bloods” universe.

Boston Blue is currently expected to premiere on CBS sometime this Fall.
