The highly anticipated thriller series, “The Assassin“, has officially set its launch date, with viewers not needing to wait much longer.
The Amazon Prime Video series, hailing from the creators of “The Tourist” – Harry and Jack Williams, unfolds a narrative around a former assassin named Julie, who has settled in Greece. However, an unexpected visit by her long-lost son Edward, seeking answers about their shared past, upends her tranquil life.
The six-part series is set to debut on the streaming platform on the 25th of July in both the UK and Ireland, meaning the start date is fast approaching.
As a thrilled admirer, I’m excited to share that an exhilarating first trailer has been unveiled, featuring none other than Keeley Hawes, who graced us in ‘Miss Austen’, and Freddie Highmore, known from ‘The Good Doctor’, as the captivating mother-son pair.
Amazon’s Prime Video anticipates a mix of intense intrigue and pulse-pounding excitement as the series unfolds, where characters Julie and Edward find themselves compelled to escape from their idyllic Greek isle home, due to Julie’s past closing in on them.

The summary indicates that Edward and Julie, with doubts about Edward’s paternity and Julie’s former profession as an assassin, flee across Europe, collaborating in a struggle for existence. As they journey, their strained relationship is pushed to the brink of endurance.
They unearth a sinister plot which they perceive as their sole menace, yet an even greater peril arises that threatens to annihilate their bond completely. In a desperate bid against time, Julie struggles to protect Edward and restore their relationship, as events from the past and present intertwine in a worldwide confrontation…”
“They discover a hidden scheme they deem as their only adversary; however, an even more treacherous risk looms over their connection that could shatter it completely. In a race against time, Julie endeavors to shield Edward and rebuild their relationship as past and present intersect in a global standoff…

The series boasts a remarkable ensemble, featuring Shalom Brune-Franklin from “The Tourist,” Gina Gershon and Jack Davenport known for their roles in “Riverdale” and “The Morning Show,” respectively, as well as Alan Dale from “Dynasty,” Gerald Kyd of “The Split,” Devon Terrell who starred in “Barry,” Richard Dormer famous for his work in “Game of Thrones,” and David Dencik, a familiar face from “Chernobyl.
Regarding the project we discussed earlier, Hawes expressed his gratitude saying, “It was truly a fortunate summer for me, spending my time in Athens working alongside the exceptional Freddie Highmore, as well as an incredibly talented cast and crew.
The Assassin will premiere in the UK and Ireland on 25 July on Prime Video.
