Actress Nicola Coughlan, best known for her role in Bridgerton, has been cast as the main character in Channel 4’s drama series titled “I Am…”.
Originally featuring actresses such as Vicky McClure, Lesley Manville, and Gemma Chan, this female-centric series comprises individual episodes that take their names from the main characters.
Following a hiatus of approximately three years, Dominic Savage’s series makes its comeback on the small screen with “I Am Helen”, a captivating two-part production. Each part spans an hour, featuring Coughlan as the main character.
It’s truly a privilege to collaborate with Dominic Savage in shaping the next ‘I Am…’ narrative, a man who is uniquely gifted and passionate about delving into the diverse aspects of women’s stories. This was stated by Coughlan.
The actor expressed that it’s an extraordinary and surreal experience to walk in the footsteps of the brilliant women he collaborates with on this series. He feels incredibly lucky to be part of this adventure, having previously been seen in Derry Girls and Big Mood.

Gemma Boswell, the commissioning editor for Channel 4 drama, expressed her joy at the return of Dominic Savage and the inclusion of Nicola Coughlan in I Am Helen.
As a dedicated fan, I’m ecstatic about the “I Am” series. It’s an extraordinary reflection of our current era, and having the dynamic duo of Dominic and Nicola bringing this unique and potent narrative to life is truly exhilarating!
Producers Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee expressed their great pleasure in carrying on our creative collaboration with Dominic Savage, an exceptionally gifted and distinctive filmmaker. They also praised Coughlan as one of the exceptional talents of her generation.

Working together on the two-part episode of “I Am” is expected to create a unique masterpiece, and we’re thankful to Channel 4 for their ongoing backing and faith in this impactful show.
Previously aired on screens in December of 2022, “I Am Ruth” starring Kate Winslet took center stage. The initial season debuted in 2019, featuring McClure, Samantha Morton, and Chan. In contrast, the follow-up released in 2021 showcased Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright, and Manville.
