The lead character Karen Pirie, portrayed by Mark Rowley, is officially part of an exceptional ensemble cast for an upcoming Scottish-based suspense series.
In the upcoming six-part series, “The Dark,” airing on ITV, the actor known for playing Mick Prentice in their crime drama will make an appearance.
According to the 2020 novel by GR Halliday titled From the Shadows, the forthcoming series portrays Rowley’s character, Connor Crawford, as a detective partnering with Monica Kennedy, played by Laura Donnelly, to unravel a murder mystery set amidst the picturesque Scottish countryside.
What to Read Next
In the picturesque Scottish wilderness, the discovery of a young man’s body, meticulously arranged in an unsettling manner, leaves Detective Monica Kennedy with a chilling premonition that this is merely the first horrifying act in a series of events that will plunge a peaceful rural community into terror.
As paranoia increases, hidden suspicions and secrets begin to surface within the community, leading the locals to suspect that one among them is a serial killer. With her expertise in dealing with the most dangerous elements of society, Monica finds herself drawn into an intense game of cat-and-mouse with a clever adversary.

The only one who can prevent this monster from taking more lives is her. However, when her past returns to haunt her, she starts doubting her own decisions. Could it be her actions that pose the greatest threat to herself and her family?
Donnelly, known for her roles in “Outlander” and “The Nevers”, expressed her eagerness to collaborate with an exceptional cast. She guaranteed an intriguing, captivating, and adrenaline-pumping series.
It’s astonishing to think that we’ve assembled such a talented group of actors to lead Poison Pen’s debut drama, according to producer Ben Stephenson. We’re thrilled to collaborate with these outstanding performers who will breathe life into these intricate characters.

Alongside Donnelly and Rowley, the series’ cast also features Emun Elliott, Helen Baxendale, Rona Morrison, Cal MacAninch, Stella Gonet, Phil McKee, Tunji Kasim, and Catherine McCormack. In simpler terms, we can say that apart from Donnelly and Rowley, the series has actors like Emun Elliott, Helen Baxendale, Rona Morrison, Cal MacAninch, Stella Gonet, Phil McKee, Tunji Kasim, and Catherine McCormack on its roster.
Matt Hartley, together with Lena Rae and Nessah Muthy, is writing the scripts. Gilles Bannier will be directing the project. The filming has started in the Glasgow region.
