Stanley Tucci’s Spanish-language thriller series La Fortuna is now streaming for free in the UK.
Exploring “the shrouded realm of treasure quests”, La Fortuna tracks Álvaro Mel as Alex Ventura, spearheading an expedition aiming to recover a centuries-old pirate ship from the grasp of Frank Wild Tucci.
In this story, Alex Ventura – a relatively green diplomat – finds himself unexpectedly at the helm of an important mission. This assignment will challenge every belief he holds dear, as his objective is to retrieve an undersea treasure that daring adventurer Frank Wild supposedly swiped.
In 2021, the six-episode miniseries was unveiled, with Alejandro Amenábar at the helm. The main cast includes Ana Polvorosa, T’Nia Miller, Clarke Peters, along with Tucci and Mel, among others.
Praised as a “must-see masterpiece” and a “series worth marathoning”, this mini-series has now been made accessible to UK viewers on the ad-supported platform ITVX, which is free to use.
One viewer labeled the series as a “masterwork,” expressing: “Once more, I believe Director Amenabar has outdone himself, crafting a tale that’s both exhilarating and nerve-wracking while simultaneously delivering an enjoyable experience.
He maintains a consistent approach with robust main characters and credible supporting actors, boasting an impressive ensemble cast that includes none other than beloved actor Stanley Tucci and renowned veteran Karra Elejalde.

I found this Spanish series to be among, if not the absolute best I’ve ever watched. The acting is superb, and I believe the director deserves credit for both outstanding and mediocre performances.
