Stan drops mysterious new teaser for season 2 of Travis Fimmel's crime series Black Snow

As an ardent fan of gripping crime dramas and a proud Australian, the announcement that Travis Fimmel is returning for another season of Black Snow on Stan has sent me into a frenzy of excitement! Having grown up in rural Queensland myself, the setting and the storyline resonate deeply with my life experiences.

Travis Fimmel is set to return for the new season of Stan’s Original crime drama Black Snow.

The popular streaming service has revealed that the critically-acclaimed Australian show will be released on January 1st.

In a fresh preview, we get a glimpse of more mystery unfolding with Fimmel’s character, the tenacious Queensland detective named Cormack, delving deeper into an old, sorrowful case that has remained unsolved.

In the upcoming six-part Season 2, we’ll delve into the enigma that shrouds the vanishing of a woman, last spotted on her 21st birthday.

In the meantime, Fimmel embarks on a quest – a pursuit to find his long-lost younger brother, someone he hasn’t seen since their childhood days.

The creepy teaser begins with Cormack (Fimmel) standing alone in a forest appearing to see ‘visions’ of Zoe (played by Bad Education actress Jana McKinnon).

At some point, Cormack could pull out a card floating along the river current within the forest, hinting that the surroundings might provide a hint regarding Zoe’s mysterious disappearance.

The story unfolds in a made-up community located inland from North Queensland’s coast, near the Glasshouse Mountains, where the current season was shot.

The cast includes Class of ’07 actress Megan Smart, Offspring’s Kat Stewart, Dan Spielman from the ABC’s The Newsreader.

Additionally, we find Alana Mansour, known for her role in SBS series titled Erotic Stories, as well as Victoria Haralabidou, who has been part of the popular Stan series called The Tourist, among the cast members.

The first season of Black Snow debuted on Stan in 2023.

Its plot centred on a fictional 30-year-old unsolved murder that rocked a North Queensland South Sea Islander community.

A mystery novel, created in northern Queensland, focuses on the murder of a teenage girl named Isabel Baker, an incident that took place in 1995.

The killing rocked the small town of Ashford and devastated Isabel’s community.

No one was ever caught for the murder, but in 2020 a time capsule unearths a vital clue that puts Detective James Cormack (Fimmel) on the path to solving the crime.

Fimmel acted alongside Brooke Satchwell, Alexander England, and the versatile performer Rob Carlton in various roles.

In contrast to his previous roles, the character of Detective Cormack will offer a fresh challenge for Travis Fimmel, a model once represented by Calvin Klein, who gained prominence through The History Channel’s Vikings starting from 2013.

The team behind Black Snow comprises creator Lucas Taylor (known for Harrow), Rosemary Blight, who’s famous for The Invisible Man, along with co-producers Lois Randall and Kaylene Butler.

Once more, Season 2 is brought to you by the Sydney-based production company, Goalpost Pictures. Sian Davies and Helena Brooks are the ones responsible for directing this season’s series.
