Stallone’s 32-Year-Old Action Classic with a Hidden Jack Black Cameo Coming to Tubi!
Once more, it underscores why it’s considered one of the top streaming platforms. Next month, this free service is set to include a classic Sylvester Stallone action film in its library.
Starting June 1st, the movie “Demolition Man” starring Sylvester Stallone will be available for streaming on Tubi. In this 1993 sci-fi action film, Stallone plays LAPD Police Sergeant John Spartan alongside Wesley Snipes as the ruthless criminal Simon Phoenix. An unfortunate incident during an arrest attempt leads to widespread casualties and damage in 1996, and both men are cryogenically frozen. The story then unfolds in the year 2032, where Spartan is thawed out to capture Phoenix, who managed to escape during a parole hearing. Although it received mixed opinions from critics, “Demolition Man” was a hit at the box office, earning $159 million globally.
Besides Sandra Bullock, Nigel Hawthorne, Benjamin Bratt, Denis Leary, and Bill Cobbs, the film “Demolition Man” also boasts one of Jack Black‘s early notable screen appearances. In this movie, Black portrays a character from the Scraps, an underground resistance group in 2032. At that time, Black was on his way to becoming a globally recognized star, though he was relatively unknown in the ’90s. It wasn’t until his role in “High Fidelity” (released in 2000) that Black started gaining more attention and eventually solidified his status as a leading man.
Is There a Demolition Man 2?
After the hit movie “Demolition Man” in the past, there were plans for a follow-up in 1995, but it never happened. In 2020, Sylvester Stallone hinted during an Instagram Q&A that a sequel was on the way, saying, “I think it’s happening now. We’re working with Warner Bros. on it, and it looks great, so we should see it soon.” However, since then no new information about “Demolition Man 2” has been released, making fans wonder if the sequel will actually be made.
Although Sylvester Stallone continues to be active in front of the camera, starring in films like “Armor” (2024) and “Alarum” (2025), he has also been taking a more hands-on approach behind the scenes. He is now adapting the 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon for the big screen. In this upcoming 2025 action thriller, Jason Statham will portray Levon Cade, a character who left his esteemed military black ops career to live a quiet life in construction. However, when his boss’s daughter, whom he considers family, is abducted by human traffickers, his quest to rescue her reveals a level of corruption far beyond what he had ever imagined.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to be the star of “Tulsa King,” currently airing on Paramount+ and marking my debut as the lead in a scripted TV series. In this gripping crime drama, I play Dwight “the General” Manfredi, a New York mafia boss who’s relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the behest of my criminal overlord. Suspecting that my mob family might not have my best interests at heart, I decide to gather a crew of my own to help me establish a new and thriving criminal enterprise in this unfamiliar city.
Demolition Man arrives on Tubi on June 1.
