Stacey Dooley tearfully reveals she suffered a devastating ectopic pregnancy with partner Kevin Clifton that left her needing emergency surgery

Stacey Dooley became emotional while sharing that she had emergency surgery last year after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy with her partner, Kevin Clifton.

Stacey Dooley, 38, recently discussed a heartbreaking loss on her show, ‘Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over.’ She already shares a two-year-old daughter, Minnie, with her partner, who is 42.

Stacey was visiting Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, a pioneer as one of the first gay fathers legally recognized in Britain. Barrie, who supports surrogacy services, has openly said he wanted children who were considered ‘beautiful’.

The TV host shared a personal struggle, tearfully explaining to the camera that she and her partner had been trying to have another child. She revealed she became pregnant last year, but unfortunately, the pregnancy didn’t progress well.

I’m heartbroken to share that I experienced an ectopic pregnancy. It’s incredibly painful, and unfortunately, this outcome was something I feared. I’m currently devastated and in a lot of pain.

As someone who cares deeply about maternal health, I’ve learned that ectopic pregnancy is incredibly serious – it’s actually the biggest cause of pregnancy-related deaths during the first three months. It happens when the fertilized egg implants and starts to grow *outside* the uterus, most commonly in one of the fallopian tubes instead of where it should, inside the womb.

Stacey explained that she suffered an ‘internal rupture’ which left her needing emergency surgery.

Naturally, going through a difficult experience makes you consider other options. Life throws curveballs, and if you still want to have more children, you need to figure out how to make that happen.

Stacey and Kevin first connected in 2018 while competing on Strictly Come Dancing, where they ultimately won. They later began a romantic relationship and now live together in Nottingham with their daughter.

Earlier this year, Stacey shared that she brought her infant daughter with her to a Nevada brothel while working on a documentary about prostitution in the U.S.

For her new documentary series, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over USA, Stacey Dooley spent the night at Mustang Ranch, Nevada – the oldest legal brothel in the state – to learn about the experiences of sex workers in America.

She recently shared that her daughter, Minnie, accompanied her on the visit when she was only eight months old, playfully comparing the situation to something out of a comedy sketch.

Stacey shared the story while speaking at the Hay Literary Festival in Wales. She was on a panel with journalist Emma Barnett and talked about the challenges of combining work and raising a family.

The presenter shared that she often takes her daughter with her when she’s filming, even when the location is a bit out of the ordinary.

In an interview with The Telegraph, she revealed that her daughter has traveled extensively, even from a very young age. She recounted a trip to Nevada to film a documentary about a legal brothel when her daughter was just eight months old, saying, ‘There’s nowhere that child hasn’t been.’

I had already agreed to the contract, thinking my daughter would be eight months old by the trip, which I figured would be okay. However, when the time came, I wasn’t comfortable leaving her, so I unexpectedly brought my eight-month-old to a brothel in Nevada.

I need to get permission from the sheriff because she’s a minor. It seems ridiculous, but it’s actually a serious request!

Stacey said she needed to rent a trailer so Minnie could be close to her dad, Kevin, during filming, and Minnie would spend time looking out the window.

She amusingly remembered that when she went back to the trailer to nurse her baby, the women working at the brothel would cheerfully say ‘Good morning, Miss Minnie!’ to her daughter.

The presenter quipped: ‘I’m like: she’ll be open minded if nothing else!’
