Oh my gosh, I was absolutely gutted to hear Stacey Dooley talking about her ectopic pregnancy! She said it was so dramatic and heartbreaking in her interview yesterday, and honestly, just imagining what she went through… it’s awful. I feel so bad for her sharing something so personal, but I’m glad she’s talking about it.
The 38-year-old TV presenter revealed she needed emergency surgery last year after experiencing internal bleeding. She shares a three-year-old daughter, Minnie, with her partner, Kevin Clifton.
Ectopic pregnancy is a dangerous condition and a major cause of death for pregnant women during the first three months. It happens when a fertilized egg starts to grow outside of the uterus, most often in the fallopian tube.
Stacey shared on Amy Jackson Westwick’s podcast, ‘What’s The Tea, Amy?’, that she became pregnant last year, but unfortunately, the pregnancy didn’t go well.
For a long time, I couldn’t even mention it without crying. But I can talk about it now. I had an ectopic pregnancy, and it was a very difficult experience.
‘It happened in Liverpool. And I was at Liverpool Women’s Hospital this time.’

Stacey explained that the situation was very serious, and doctors told her it was as if she had internal bleeding, requiring emergency surgery.
I was lying in bed, feeling like I was about to lose consciousness because everything was falling apart. Then, the nurse playfully said, “Here you go, love, have some fresh air,” as she put the oxygen mask on me. That’s when I realized I was in good hands.
‘That environment, you know the Women’s hospital, they are renowned for being absolutely amazing.’
During a recent episode of Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, Stacey became emotional and cried while discussing a heartbreaking loss.
Stacey was visiting Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, a British man who was the first gay father legally recognized in the UK. Barrie, a proponent of paid surrogacy, explained that he wanted his children to be ‘beautiful’.
The TV host shared a very personal experience, becoming emotional as she confided to the camera that she understands the pain of trying and failing to conceive a child.
I’m incredibly upset, but not surprised, as I feared this might happen. I’m currently in bed, crying, after being told it was an ectopic pregnancy, and it’s been a really tough experience.
Stacey and Kevin first connected in 2018 while competing on Strictly Come Dancing, where they ultimately won the competition. They later began a romantic relationship and now live together in Nottingham with their daughter.

Stacey recently shared that discovering she was pregnant with her daughter, Minnie, was a surprisingly messy and unplanned experience. She described it as far from perfect and quite chaotic.
The television personality recently published a new book, ‘Dear Minnie,’ which is written as a touching letter to a young child.
In her letter, she described finding out she was pregnant in 2022 – she took a pregnancy test in the Selfridges department store restroom.
While chatting on the Dish from Waitrose podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, she revealed it was surprisingly simple. She explained she was upstairs, had about five minutes to spare, and it was all about finding the right balance.
I didn’t want to sound overly sentimental or repeat ‘I love you’ endlessly. It’s obvious that parents love their children, so I didn’t feel the need to state it repeatedly.
Honestly, more than anything, I just needed it to be true. And finding out? It wasn’t some peaceful, gentle moment, not at all! It was total chaos. I remember rushing to Selfridges, to that tiny pharmacy section they have, to buy a pregnancy test… I was such a mess!
The filmmaker remembered grabbing the item because they had a few free minutes. The chemist, a very kind woman, immediately covered the bag with tape to protect its contents from view.
Okay, so picture this: I was desperately trying to go to the bathroom, and it was absolutely sweltering down there. I was sitting on the toilet when this woman started banging on the door – huge line, total emergency situation, you know? But honestly, even before she knocked, I just knew something was up. It was like the knocking just confirmed what I already felt deep down.
She explained the situation further, saying, ‘Then I started talking about taking a black cab, and he got upset because I wanted to go south of the river.’
He’s changed his mind about going south and is starting a ride with a different taxi driver. I’m on a video call with Kev, who’s using a microphone for an interview, and I just quietly told him I’m pregnant. He asked if I was happy, and I told him I am, I’m really happy.
She laughed: ‘There was nothing glossy about finding out.’
