Stacey Dooley Prefers Bedtime Snuggles with Daughter Over Partner Kevin

Stacey Dooley mentioned that the romantic aspect of her relationship with partner Kevin Clifton has been somewhat overshadowed since their daughter began sharing their bedroom at night.

As a devoted follower, I personally find no issue with the TV presenter, aged 38, who expresses that she remains completely unfazed. She shares her contentment in co-sleeping with their two-year-old daughter, Minnie.

Indeed, the previous Strictly contestant playfully commented on her relationship with dancer Kevin, who is 42 years old, by saying, “Perhaps it’s time we refreshed our memory on intimate moments together.

Stacey and Kevin met when they were paired on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. 

At present, Kevin is traversing the nation, playing the role of Billy Flynn in the musical “Chicago,” with the tour scheduled to continue through August.

However, Stacey intends to keep her nightly habit unaltered upon his arrival, since she enjoys having Minnie with her during the night.

Stacey shared: “Right now, Minnie is sleeping in our bed. To be honest, I’m not particularly excited about this situation. While it’s generally recommended that children sleep in their own beds, I believe it’s mostly due to the fact that Kev is often away from home.

Could it be possible that I’m engaged elsewhere at this moment? Perhaps once Kevin reappears, we might recall our intimate moments together again.

Perhaps I would suggest, Stacey might say, “Minnie, it’s time for you to retreat to your room now.” As she cherishes every moment with her little girl, Stacey doesn’t mind following her own bedtime at 8pm to preserve Minnie’s routine.

In the evening, we usually have dinner together, followed by giving her a bath. She mentioned this on the Parenting Hell podcast with comedians Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe.

‘We have a bit of a chat, put her PJ’s on and we just end up getting in my bed together. 

After finishing one episode of Paddington, we head off to bed. Tonight, I plan on retiring early, around 8 pm. Honestly, I really enjoy this!

Last year, Minnie began acclimating herself to sleeping with one of her grandmothers, as they took care of her during the time when Stacey was making her stage debut in the play “2:22 A Ghost Story” on the West End.

Stacey mentioned that she’s grown accustomed to being put to bed with another person in a shared bed.

‘It was my mum or Kev’s mum and they were going to bed at 8 o’clock, too.’ 

Shortly after Stacey teamed up with her partner Kevin on a fresh work endeavor, marking the first collaboration since ‘Strictly’.

2018 saw me, a devoted fan, watching with bated breath as documentary-maker Stacey and professional dancer Kevin graced the stage of Strictly’s 16th series. Their chemistry was palpable, but what truly captivated me was their shared passion. Little did I know that their journey would lead them not just to victory, but also to a beautiful romance. As they danced their way into my heart, so too did the blossoming love between them.

Seven years later, they will collaborate once more, having been chosen for the supernatural thriller titled 2:22 – A Ghost Story. This production is scheduled to embark on a tour across the United Kingdom in the current year.

The duo, who are parents to Minnie, will take on the roles of Jenny and Sam, depicting a married couple for the very first time in the series, as this dynamic is played by a real-life couple.

In contrast to Kevin who will make his debut on stage for this role, Stacey is set to repeat her character of Jenny, a role she played before in the same production that had a brief run at the Gielgud Theatre back in 2024.

Earlier, Stacey expressed her joy about resuming her role, saying: ‘Overjoyed to once again wear Jenny’s shoes! Honestly.’

I spent an enchanting period of time with 2:22 last year, and I can’t wait to share this remarkably intelligent production across different venues! And it’s going to be with my good old buddy Kev – a complete dream! Don’t miss out on the fun, see you there! Best, S x.

In the meantime, Kevin shared how thrilled he was about collaborating with Stacey on the play, as he had long admired both the production and Stacey’s contributions to it.

He expressed his enthusiasm by saying: “I absolutely adore the play 2:22. I’ve watched it multiple times, and for years now, I’ve yearned to portray the character Sam! It’s brilliantly penned, witty, humorous, and thought-provoking, yet it always manages to keep me on the edge of my seat with its underlying tension.”

When Stacey completed the western jog, I admired her immensely and felt inspired to join her. The idea of us two, Stacey and me, being a duo with a brand-new baby in our new home seems too good to be true! I’m absolutely thrilled about it!

Last month, Stacey likewise posted a picture featuring herself and Kevin behind the scenes, expressing her excitement about rejoining the cast of 2.22: A Ghost Story.

2025 finds me ecstatically reprising the role of Jenny, a delight I can hardly express! Last summer’s stage experience was nothing short of exhilarating on those boards.

Although my true love is indeed @donnair, @kevinclifton is an extraordinary stand-in for that role. Let’s rock this tour together, darling! 💗

The tour will begin at Manchester’s Opera House on August 4, and it’s scheduled to run all the way up to November 2025.

Additionally, the performance tour will visit cities such as Bristol, Glasgow, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Malvern, Stoke-on-Trent, Brighton, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Guildford, Crawley, Southampton, Buxton, and Peterborough.

The second part of our tour will take place from January 8, 2026, to June 20, 2026. Details regarding performers will be shared at a later date.

While the remaining cast joining Kevin and Stacey for the first leg is still yet to be revealed.
