On January 25th, SR alexis is hosting a charity stream to support Cloud9 OXY and his family, raising money to help with the costs of his mother’s funeral.
Shopify Rebellion player Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi is holding a charity stream to honor the mother of Cloud9’s Francis “OXY” Hoang, who recently passed away. OXY is taking a break from the VCT Americas league. A GoFundMe page has been created for anyone who wants to contribute to funeral expenses.
Cloud9 OXY steps away from VCT America
OXY announced the sad news of his mother’s passing on January 21st, and will be taking a break from the VCT Americas 2026: Kickoff Stage. Shortly after, SR alexis announced a 12-hour charity stream to help with funeral expenses, with a fundraising goal of $15,000.
Any money left over will be given to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which works to prevent and treat cancer. Alexis shared that they were deeply affected by the news about OXY’s mother, as their own mother had previously fought cancer. They described OXY as a consistently positive and encouraging player in the VALORANT community and wanted to offer support to him and his family during this challenging time.
The GoFundMe campaign is already halfway to its goal. The page describes Francis as a kind and selfless person who faces challenges with quiet strength. On X (formerly Twitter), OXY asked for prayers for Francis’s mother and encouraged everyone to reach out to their own parents, reminding people to cherish every moment with them.
During the VCT Americas tournament, Demon1 will be filling in for OXY. He stated on his livestream that he’s dedicating all his gameplay to supporting OXY.
