Squid Game creator teases season 3 release window

As a hardcore gamer who has survived countless virtual battles and apocalyptic scenarios, I can confidently say that nothing has prepared me for the rollercoaster ride that is “Squid Game“. The second season of this South Korean sensation has left me on the edge of my seat, gasping for breath as the tension builds to unbearable levels.

The way Hwang Dong-hyuk teases us with the possibility of a third season is cruel and unusual punishment – I’ve become so invested in these characters that I can’t imagine waiting another three years for more! But, as a veteran gamer, I know that patience is key to winning any game.

The cliffhanger ending of season 2 has left me with more questions than answers, and I can’t help but wonder what Gi-hun will do now that he’s lost everything and his best friend has turned against him. I’m eagerly awaiting the hidden clip after the credits to give me even a slight hint as to where season 3 might take us.

In true gamer fashion, I’ve been rewatching the series on loop in an attempt to decipher every detail and predict what will happen next. But, as with any game, there are always twists and turns that you can’t see coming. So, I guess I’ll just have to keep playing “Squid Game” until season 3 is officially announced… or until my Netflix subscription runs out!

Oh, and let me tell you a little joke – why did the Squid Game player cross the road? Because he didn’t want to get red light-ed! (Get it? Red light, as in the game’s deadly penalty for losing?) Ah, I kill myself.

Squid Game season 2 spoilers follow.

It’s been a week since the release of “Squid Game” season 2 on Netflix, yet its creator has already hinted at potential plans for season 3 in the near future.

In a conversation with Variety, Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed his belief that fans should not endure such a prolonged wait, like the one spanning from Season 1 in 2021 to Season 2 in 2024.

He mentioned that it’s likely we’ll announce the start date for season 3 fairly soon, and he anticipates it to air sometime between late spring and early winter of the following year.

As time goes on, you’ll notice an improvement in each episode. Not only that, but as the seasons progress, you can expect a broader narrative, a more gripping tale, and certainly a more engaging viewing experience. Therefore, I strongly recommend sticking with it right up to the final episode!

Additionally, he hinted at how season 3 will take a unique turn, based on the season 2 finale’s shocking revelation that In-ho is the villainous Front Man, who initially bonded with Gi-hun during the most recent game but subsequently undermined his progress and shattered him by murdering Jung-bae.

Speaking about the plot of the third season, since Gi-hun has lost everything, even his closest friend, and every attempt he made ended in failure, the creator is wondering: how will he change or adapt now?

“Where will Gi-hun find himself at the start of the third season, and what decisions will he make? Will he stick to his mission or abandon it? Will he succumb to despair or press on? You’ll encounter our character Gi-hun at a crucial juncture, as he is no longer the same man we knew in season 2.”

If you managed to catch the secret scene following the end credits at the close of Season 2’s finale – viewing it will offer a subtle clue about the direction Season 3 could be headed. For the moment, I believe that’s as much as I can reveal.

Squid Game seasons 1 and 2 are available on Netflix now.
