Squid Game creator says season 2 finale is going to leave fans “upset”
As a die-hard fan who has binge-watched Squid Game multiple times and even dreamt about joining the game (just kidding!), I can’t help but feel a rollercoaster of emotions upon hearing Hwang Dong-hyuk’s tease about season two’s finale. On one hand, I’m elated that we’re getting more of this gripping drama; on the other, I’m terrified that he might break my heart with an unsatisfying ending.
The creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, hinted at a dissatisfying ending for the second season of this gruesome Netflix K-drama to its fans. When asked by Digital Spy about viewers’ response to season two’s finale, Hwang suggested that they might not be pleased with him.
The showrunner expressed, “At the close of season two, I expect viewers will feel quite displeased with me as they might exclaim, ‘Why are you doing this to us? We need season three right away!’
However, Hwang promised the wait wouldn’t be in vain.
The creator advises that it would be beneficial for you to take a brief pause and anticipate Season 3, as he confidently assures you that it will undoubtedly be worth your patience. In simpler terms, he suggests waiting for Season 3, as it’s going to be great and worth the wait, so please be patient.
Hwang elaborated on the anticipations for the storyline in season two and how it would connect to season three.
He pointed out that when considering seasons two and three collectively, they form one continuous narrative. However, within this larger storyline, there exists a significant turning point that propels the plot towards a new direction – essentially marking the conclusion of season two.
In a recent announcement, the leader of Squid Game shared some insights about the development of Season 3. He disclosed that he simultaneously wrote and filmed Seasons 2 and 3, implying that Season 2 is nearly complete, as you are aware, and we’re almost done with the editing process for Season 3.
He mentioned, “Our aim is to work hard and complete season three swiftly, ensuring its release for the audience at the earliest opportunity.
In simple terms, season three will mark the end of our series and is expected to hit screens around 2025.
The second season of “Squid Game” premieres on Netflix on December 26th. You can currently stream seasons 1 and a reality show spin-off called “Squid Game: The Challenge” on the platform right now.
