In 2025, fans will celebrate the 30th anniversary of , and Square Enix is releasing a new musical soundtrack to commemorate the milestone.
Many consider Chrono Trigger to be one of the greatest video games of all time. Created by the talented team behind Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy, this SNES role-playing game takes players on a journey through time and remains a beloved classic for those who experienced it in the 1990s.
A New Chrono Trigger Album Is On The Way
Square Enix has announced a new orchestral album, Chrono Trigger Orchestral Arrangement: Melodies that Transcend Time, which will be released on January 14, 2026. Pre-orders are available now for 4,180 yen – about $27.
The orchestral arrangement of Chrono Trigger, titled Melodies that Transcend Time, is currently available for pre-order only in Japan. The album cover features newly created artwork of the Chrono Trigger characters playing musical instruments.
What Songs Are On The New Chrono Trigger Album?
This album features orchestral arrangements of ten different songs from Chrono Trigger, including favorites like “Secret of the Forest,” “Yearnings of the Wind,” and “Robo’s Theme.” The music was recorded during a special concert in Japan on January 17th and 18th, 2026, and this album allows fans who couldn’t attend to experience the performance.
Though dedicated fans might have hoped for something like a remastered version or a new game, this album shows that Square Enix still cares about Chrono Trigger. Hopefully, this isn’t the only new content we’ll see, and more Chrono Trigger experiences are coming, but for now, this album will have to satisfy fans.
