As a dedicated Squad Busters player with countless hours under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions about the upcoming removal of Win Streaks. On one hand, I understand the developers’ intentions to make the game more accessible and enjoyable for all players. However, as someone who has spent countless late nights chasing that elusive 50-streak or proudly displaying my 100-streak achievement, it’s a bittersweet pill to swallow.

Squad Busters developed by Supercell has announced that they will eliminate Win Streaks on December 16, 2024. This decision was made since the developers felt that win streaks were not providing a genuinely satisfying rewarding experience.

According to the official statement, the creators plan to enhance the game to ensure it’s both easy to play and fun for everyone. Upon careful consideration, they discovered that the Win Streaks feature was causing unwanted stress and hesitation, which ultimately diminished the player’s experience.

In the future, winning streaks won’t impact player advancement anymore. Instead, a revamped “Reward Chest” system tailored to your position within the game will take its place. As a tribute to history, your longest winning streak will be showcased as a historical achievement. Furthermore, special emotes will be bestowed upon those who met certain milestones (0-9, 10, 25, 50, and 100 streaks) prior to the cutoff date.

In simpler terms, the developers acknowledged worries regarding rewarding players for coins used to sustain Win Streaks. Instead of providing direct compensation, they chose not to go that route because it might create an imbalance between free players and those who pay, potentially leading to an unfair advantage.

Of course, within the community, there have always been mixed feelings about the removal of Win Streaks. Some see this as a positive move toward reducing pay-to-win mechanics, but other players are not so happy losing this feature and also about emotes being rewarded as part of compensation.
