The eagerly awaited update, Squad Busters, is set to roll out in December 2024, marking the end of our annual updates. This significant update introduces a Christmas-themed event called Squadmas, a fresh game mode within Showdown, enhancements to the Ranked modes, and several other exciting features for players. Let’s explore what awaits you as we bid farewell to 2024 and ring in the holiday season with Squad Busters!

Introducing Showdown Mode

In this latest update, I’m thrilled to share the arrival of an exciting new gameplay mode called Showdown! Ever wondered what it’s like to dial down on farming and ramp up on action? This five-player mode is designed just for that, with streamlined rules and a focus on being the last Squad standing. It’s all about survival and strategy now!

Key Features of Showdown Mode are given below:

No Gems are available, so it is just Coins to grow your Squad.
New Mega Potions offer power and speed boosts.
You need to bust other Squads to collect Coins and dominate.

To aid you in your planning, a Squad’s health meter indicates the number of team members and their current health levels for each group. However, take note of the creeping vines that will compel you to move towards a new area during every game.

Duo Mode in Gem Hunt

The cherished Gem Hunt mode remains unchanged, and now you have the option to play together with a friend in the new version called Gem Hunt Duo. Your combined Gem points will be shown for both players, and beneficial buffs like healing and enraging spells will affect both of you if you stay close.

If your friend is Busted, they can reassemble a small Squad from nearby Chests, but if both of you are eliminated, it’s game over. This cooperative twist brings a new layer of strategy and teamwork to Squad Busters.

Ranked Mode Updates

The special feature called “Ranked mode” is stepping into the limelight, distinct from the “World Journey“. Now, you can battle for Trophies and ascend both local and global rankings. To join in, make sure you have at least five Common, Rare, and Epic characters unlocked in your collection.

In Ranked play, you’ll now have the opportunity to customize your team composition, benefiting numerous gamers. Simultaneously, this update brings enhancements to various Attackers and minor adjustments to the power of the Barbarian King and Archer Queen.

Chest Tickets and Win Streaks retired

Starting from this month onwards, the Squad Busters team has made a change: they’ve phased out win streaks and Chest Tickets. Instead, you’ll now receive a Reward Chest after completing every match provided that you end up in the top eight. Achieving higher ranks will grant you additional upgrade taps and Babies to aid in your team’s growth.

“Exciting news! A fresh daily reward system is now available. Each match you win moves you forward on this track, revealing boxes filled with exciting rewards. Winning your very first match of the day will also earn you an extra Portal Energy boost. To top it off, update your game on Monday to collect unique souvenirs based on your longest winning streak ever!

Celebrate Squadmas with Festive Skins

Countdown to Squadmas begins on the 23rd of December, 2024 and continues till the 5th of January, 2025! In this exciting period, you’ll spot Candy Canes in battles. Accumulate them for a chance to unlock Chests and exclusive Squadmas Skins like Nutcracker Greg, Cookie Goblin, Ice Barbarian King, and Toy Nita. Moreover, the Squadmas Advent Calendar will grant daily perks, with an extraordinary Ultra character choice waiting on December 25th!

Reflecting on 2024 and future sneak peeks

Despite experiencing significant growth in its player base since its debut, Squad Busters’ team is well aware of the hurdles encountered, such as technical glitches and updates that didn’t always strike a chord. Moving forward, they are committed to implementing substantial modifications aimed at enhancing the game, which might necessitate a longer gap between updates.

For the moment, we won’t introduce any fresh worlds or characters, but a plan for the following six months will be disclosed in early 2025. So let’s hold off for now as it could mean even more excitement and action with Squad Busters!
