Squad Busters August 2024 update brings new worlds, characters, currency and more
As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed countless updates, I must admit that the August 2024 Squad Busters update has caught my attention more than a rare Pokémon at a Pokéstop. The developers have truly taken our feedback to heart and delivered a package full of surprises.
In an upcoming August 2024 update, the creators of Squad Busters by Supercell have taken on board our collective feedback and are rolling out some exciting changes. This overhaul is packed with new features such as worlds, characters, a fresh currency system, and even adjustments in certain game elements that will no longer be part of the game.

Squad Busters August 2024 Update: All new features explained
In the most recent version of their update, affectionately referred to as “Squapdate,” there are plenty of exciting additions on the horizon. However, prior to delving into those, let me briefly summarize the changes regarding features that have been taken out of the game.
Battle Bag, Mega Units, Battle Battle Mode – All removed
In the upcoming changes, the Battle Bag, Keys, and Rerolls will no longer be available. However, Normal Keys will continue to show up in matches, just not as shop items or rewards anymore. Despite the elimination of Rerolls, the Refresh option will persist, allowing you to use it for free, three times during each match.
A significant alteration in the game involves the elimination of the Mega Units. Instead of being consumables, MEGAS will now function as Character Skins. This means that if you have previously unlocked MEGAs before the update, you’ll receive the corresponding Skins for free, along with extra rewards based on the number of Keys, Rerolls, and MEGAs you previously owned. The MEGA Start Mod is also no longer available.
With MEGA assets no longer available, the MEGA Bank is being phased out as well. Instead, a new banking option, the Pinata Bank, will be established within the Gem Pass. This bank introduces a fresh assortment of rewards that you can claim with the Gems you accumulate upon completing the Gem Pass.
A significant change will be the elimination of the “Baby Battle mode,” as stated by the creators in response to high player preference. Other modifications involve “Lucky Finds” in battles now awarding “Fused Characters,” and the “Chest Doublers” update, which no longer includes time constraints but continues to exist.
New World: Lava World
As a gamer, I’m super excited about the upcoming update, similar to the one back in June 2024. Instead of the frosty Ice World we’ve been battling through, it looks like the developers are heating things up this Summer with a brand-new environment, the Lava World! Familiar monsters and a unique Volcano Gem Mine are promised to make this new world even more thrilling. Can’t wait to see what challenges await us in this fiery terrain!
New Characters and Battle Mods
With the arrival of the Lava World, we’re introducing three unique characters: Archer, Miner, and Leon. Archer is a Common character who specializes in attacks with his Arrow Volley skill that activates after every 12 strikes. Miner, who is Rare, has a Burrow ability and can attack using Turbo. Lastly, we have the Epic character, Leon, who possesses the power to cast an Invisibility Spell as a Speedster.
It’s amazing news! You have a chance to obtain all three characters gratis just by taking part in our upcoming Lava World Extravaganza, lasting for an entire week after the latest update.
Three exciting new mods are coming as well, namely Crystal Forest, Timeout, and Hatchling Herder.
In Crystal Forest, I find myself as a mighty Hero, none other than Greg, embarking on a thrilling race against time to fell countless enchanted trees. The second game mode, Timeout, ratchets up the tension with each player starting with 200 Gems. However, if you can’t amass enough time to reach the finish line, the clock runs out and, unfortunately, it’s ‘game over’ for you!
In the game called Hatchling Herder, your mission is to gather and safeguard colossal baby creatures known as Giant Hatchlings, which tend to stick close by. It’s quite amusing when these little ones tag along with you, making you feel like a shepherd tending to a flock. Nevertheless, the more hatchlings you accumulate, the higher the risk of them being snatched away, so always stay vigilant.
Style Tickets, Gameplay Updates, and Other Additions
As a gamer, I’m super excited about the new in-game currency called Style Tickets! While they were available during the beta phase, this is my first time experiencing them since the official game launch. You can earn these tickets through the Gem Pass, Reward Tracks, and Events. Once you’ve got them, you can use them to buy cool Skins and Emotes from the Shop, making your gaming experience even more personalized and fun!
In addition to regular Emotes, a new segment titled “Action Emotes” will be introduced. This innovative feature enables you to connect Emotes with specific actions, causing them to activate automatically during combat when those actions are performed by your character. However, you can still manually use the emotes as well.
Apart from that, the “Burgers and Bullets” season is set to start immediately following the conclusion of the ongoing Gem Pass. It will last for a span of two weeks, but with quicker reward accumulation. As we move forward, the “Monster Madness” season will kick off in September, featuring the Spooky Pup Rider as part of the Super Pass. During this period, the Infernal Battle Healer and Spooky Trader are expected to appear in the shop.
