Splitgate 2 Bringing More Portal-Based FPS Action to Xbox in 2025

As a seasoned gamer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation upon hearing about Splitgate 2, the long-awaited sequel to the unexpected smash hit multiplayer first-person shooter from 1047 Games. With over 22 million downloads and counting, the original Splitgate managed to captivate players with its unique blend of “Halo-meets-Portal” gameplay, and I’m eager to see how the sequel will build upon that foundation.

1047 Games unveiled Splitgate 2, a new edition to their successful “Halo-infused with Portal” multiplayer first-person shooter released in 2021. This game surpassed an impressive 22 million downloads. In the upcoming sequel, players can expect more thrilling FPS battles and intricate portal jumping maneuvers, taken to even greater heights.

In the upcoming Splitgate 2, you’ll have the freedom to select among three distinct factions, each offering its own distinctive gameplay and competitive tactics. Furthermore, this title provides an array of arenas, weapons, and gaming modes tailored for players of all abilities, whether they prefer playing alone or teaming up with friends.

The original Splitgate’s development was described as “ambitious but rough around the edges” by CEO Ian Proulx. In contrast, the sequel is being built from scratch using Unreal Engine 5. The action that Splitgate is known for has undergone a major revamp, spearheaded by an elite team of industry-leading talent.

I’m thrilled to be part of the 1047 team now, joining talented developers who’ve previously worked on iconic games like Call of Duty, Overwatch, Halo, Valorant, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, God of War: Ragnarok, and many more. With such an experienced team, I can’t wait to see what we’ll create together. In the meantime, mark your calendars for 2025 when Splitgate 2 arrives on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Take a peek at the trailer below to get a sneak peek of what’s to come!
