Spirit outlast FaZe to lock Semi-Finals at World Finals
As a seasoned esports enthusiast who has witnessed countless matches and tournaments, I must admit that the BLAST Premier World Finals quarterfinal between Spirit and FaZe was nothing short of electrifying! The tension was palpable as these two titans clashed, with each team displaying their unique strengths and strategies.
Spirit take down FaZe in a thriller to set up Astralis semi-finals
Team Spirit advanced to the Semi-Finals following a 2-0 victory against FaZe at the World Finals. Although the scoreline suggests an easy win, it was nearly a dramatic comeback by FaZe. Finn “Karrigan” Andersen played a key role in keeping FaZe’s chances alive. However, the collective strength of Spirit’s top players proved too powerful to be overturned.

Spirit vs FaZe Rosters – World Finals
Spirit | FaZe |
---|---|
Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov | Håvard “rain” Nygaard |
Boris “magixx” Vorobyev | Helvijs “broky” Saukants |
Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotja | Finn “karrigan” Andersen |
Danil “donk” Kryshkovets | Robin “ropz” Kool |
Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov | David “frozen” Čerňanský |
Sergey “hally” Shavayev (C) | Filip “NEO” Kubski (C) |
Map 1 – Mirage – donk and sh1ro prevent karrigan miracle
Initially, Donk demonstrated his exceptional skill with a triple kill using a Deagle in Mirage. Despite Spirit failing to take advantage of the initial opportunity, they managed to maintain an edge during the gunfights. As the first half was approaching its end, FaZe Clan managed to succeed on A site, keeping the score even. Upon switching to attack, Donk thrived with seven consecutive kills, contributing to a 13-10 victory in the first round for his team.
Map 2 – Anubis – Singapore gets a superb show
The crowds of Singapore got the perfect show as the game moved to Anubis. Spirit statted off with a pistol win, and FaZe replied with late A hits to tie the score 2-2. That set the stage for what was to come as the two teams remained neck and neck. Thanks to karrigan’s incredible play with the Deagle, FaZe found two T-rounds to close the half with a minor lead.
After making their way back to the T-side once more, Spirit seemed poised to dominate the scoreboard much like they did in Mirage. With sh1ro and zont1x playing exceptionally, Spirit started the half with four consecutive rounds. However, FaZe were determined not to lose ground. Karrigan’s impressive performance from the previous map continued as he repeatedly scored impactful rounds, slowing down Spirit’s attack. Consecutive victories for five rounds put FaZe on the brink of victory, and now it was Spirit who found themselves under pressure.
As a diehard fan, I’d rephrase it like this: In round 24, FaZe had the game sewn up with their strong defense against Spirit A. However, Chopper, who managed to sneak into their backlines, made an astute decision to rotate to site B, leaving Broky exposed. This move ignited the Overtime showdown as neither team was willing to give an inch. After a fierce battle that spilled over into two Overtimes, FaZe simply ran out of steam, and Spirit capitalized on their exhaustion to claim victory with a final score of 19-17.
The team has advanced to the Semi-Finals of the World Finals by defeating FaZe Clan. Now they’ll face Astralis in their quest for a place in the Finals.
