According to the summary, Fréwaka focuses on Shoo, a home care worker, assigned to a secluded village to look after an agoraphobic woman. This woman is not only terrified of her neighbors but also of the Na Sídhe, ominous beings she thinks kidnapped her many years ago.

As they grow increasingly intertwined, Shoo finds himself enveloped in the woman’s unusual apprehension, peculiar practices, and ancient beliefs. Over time, he encounters the haunting truths buried in her history.

In the chilling preview, Shoo navigates towards the elderly lady’s residence, where she learns about a hidden dwelling beneath it, referred to as “a house beneath a house.

Meanwhile, in the realm of chilling cinematic updates, streaming platform Shudder has secured the distribution privileges for the United Kingdom, North America, Australia, and New Zealand for an upcoming horror film boasting a nearly flawless Rotten Tomatoes score.

Currently, the upcoming movie titled “The Ugly Stepsister” is slated to be released on Shudder, and it currently holds a rating of 96% based on 28 reviews.

Initiating filmmaker Emilie Blichfeldt offers a grisly reinterpretation of the classic Brothers Grimm Cinderella tale, delving into unrealistic beauty expectations for women, particularly spotlighting the character Elvira, who goes to extreme measures in an attempt to capture the prince’s affection.

The movie has received positive reviews from critics; The AV Club commented that it’s an exceptionally dark debut for Norwegian director Emilie Blichfeldt, offering a more dismal interpretation of the classic tale Cinderella.

Fréwaka arrives on Shudder on April 25.
