Spinal Tap Sequel Hype: Original Movie Back in Theaters

In 1984, Rob Reiner’s mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap” first hit movie theaters. Forty-one years later, it returned to cinemas before its sequel is set to release this year. The enthusiasm among fans for the new film appears to be strong, as the revival of the original “This Is Spinal Tap” has been such a success that more showings have been added.

Due to the restricted re-release of the movie “This Is Spinal Tap,” which includes a restored and remastered version, it has earned $931.7k from 1,015 cinemas over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). This places the film at the tenth position in the domestic box office. Anticipating an additional $138k on its Monday release, the total earnings for the three-day special event will reach approximately $1.069 million. Due to strong fan interest, Bleecker Street and Fathom Events have added more showings on July 8th, 9th, and 10th.
