The sequel to “Spinal Tap,” titled “Spinal Tap 2,” has unveiled its official trailer, featuring several high-profile guest appearances along with a part for a beloved figure from the “Taskmaster” series.
Entitled “Spinal Tap II: The Saga Persists“, the movie finds Nigel, David, and Derek banding together once more for another performance, following the unexpected popularity of one of their tracks online.
Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer once again take on their characters, these now-mature musicians who’ve traversed the wilderness of obscure bands and ventured into the world of cryptocurrency trading for years.
In this scenario, Paul McCartney, Questlove, and Elton John make appearances, each portraying themselves. Paul discusses the enduring impact of Spinal Tap, Questlove declines an opportunity to become the next in a line of fated drummers, while Elton invites the band up on stage with him.
Chris Addison and Kerry Godliman, known from “The Thick of It” and “Taskmaster,” respectively, take on managerial roles for the band, proposing some unconventional strategies.

Lastly, the real director, Rob Reiner, reappears in the role of Marty DiBergi – the fictional director within the storyline who converts the mayhem into a documentary.
In an interview with “Beyond the Joke” a year ago, Godliman disclosed that her character is named Hope, and interestingly, she is the offspring of the original band manager, Ian Faith, portrayed by the late Tony Hendra.
Additionally, she mentioned that her interaction with Elton, including his spouse David Furnish, was largely unscripted.

Last night, I found myself immersed yet again in the engaging world of Whitstable Pearl, Godliman’s captivating crime drama, as it kicked off its third season back in the UK.
It stars the actor as a restaurant owner who doubles as a private investigator.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be released in UK and US cinemas on September 12.
