Spider-Man’s Vulture Was Originally Tied to a Different MCU Character | Exclusive

In another reality within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the villain from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Vulture, might actually be the primary antagonist for a different hero’s story.

Released in 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming—a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures—introduced Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Michael Keaton as his adversary, Vulture (Adrian Toomes). The film has been followed by two sequels, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), and a fourth movie is currently being made with a planned release next July.

Who was Spider-Man’s Vulture originally tied to in the MCU?

SuperHeroHype is giving fans a first look at the behind-the-scenes art from Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming. The book, titled The Art of the Movie, is written by Eleni Roussos and published by Titan Books.

Conceptual artist Josh Nizzi explained that the initial idea for the Vulture was to connect him to the Falcon’s past. They deliberately gave him a similar, military-style appearance. The Vulture’s wings and equipment were always meant to look makeshift and experimental – a bigger, less refined version of the Falcon’s technology.

Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, and Sam Wilson, who is now Captain America, haven’t interacted with each other in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though it’s uncertain if they ever will, Joaquin Torres has taken over as the Falcon, leaving open the possibility of seeing more of Toomes’ character. However, Toomes was last featured in a brief scene after the credits of the 2022 film Morbius, and neither Marvel nor Sony currently seem to be planning to continue that part of the story.

But a new villain emerges in New York, threatening everything. The book features exclusive concept art, photos from the set, and insights from the cast and crew, showcasing how Marvel Studios brought Spider-Man into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
