Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield Wants Emma Stone to Play This Marvel Character

Andrew Garfield knows which Marvel character Emma Stone should play next.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone both appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man films, with Garfield as Spider-Man/Peter Parker and Stone as Gwen Stacy. Garfield later returned to the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Stone’s character, Gwen Stacy, died at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

What did Andrew Garfield say about Emma Stone and Marvel?

According to Hits Radio, Garfield was questioned about whether Emma Stone would be a good choice to portray a live-action Spider-Gwen in a future Marvel film or series.

“Yeah,” Garfield said. “I mean, why not? Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.”

Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos have collaborated on several films, including ‘The Favourite’ (2018), ‘Poor Things’ (2023), ‘Kinds of Kindness’ (2024), and the upcoming ‘Begonia’ (2025). Stone received Academy Award nominations for her performances in ‘The Favourite’, ‘Poor Things’, and ‘Begonia’, and she won the Best Actress Oscar for ‘Poor Things’.

Garfield continued, “Yeah, I think she could do anything. She’s such an incredible actor.”

Andrew Garfield recently shared that he was surprised by the enthusiastic response to his portrayal of Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ especially considering it had been years since ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ films were released.

He explained that the entire scene was mostly made up on the spot. The idea was simple: have the three Spider-Men discuss their experiences and share stories, filmed in long, continuous shots, to see what great moments they could capture. There was so much good material, it was hard to choose! He was particularly touched by one moment, saying it was surprisingly sweet. Hearing it from Tobey Maguire, who was his Spider-Man growing up, made it especially meaningful and personal. He was just really happy to have been a part of it.
