As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that among all the scripts I’ve encountered during my Marvel journey, playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man included, the one that truly stands out as the best is yet to be part of my filmography – Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey. Though I’ve donned the iconic Spidey suit and been an essential part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Captain America: Civil War, none of those projects can compare to the captivating narrative of The Odyssey that I’m eager to bring Telemachus to life within.
Tom Holland calls Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey the best script he has ever read
In a chat with Agence France-Presse (reported by France 24), Tom Holland highly commended Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, titled The Odyssey. Reflecting on the script, the 29-year-old actor stated that it was the finest he had ever encountered. This praise comes approximately a month following the completion of filming for The Odyssey. Meanwhile, Holland is currently engaged in his new project, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has recently commenced shooting.
Holland described Nolan as a true team player. He went on to explain, “He [Nolan] has a clear vision… yet it’s not a setting where creativity is stifled; instead, ideas and character development are encouraged in unique ways.
The story “The Odyssey” is based on an ancient Greek epic poem penned by Homer. It’s essentially about King Odysseus of Ithaca, a legendary Greek figure, who sets out on a lengthy and dangerous voyage back home after the Trojan War. During this journey, he has various adventures with fantastical creatures like the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the sorceress Circe, who is also a deity.
Matt Damon portrays Odysseus, Charlize Theron takes on the role of Circe, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson are also part of the cast.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that back in December of last year, Universal Pictures announced my anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s next masterpiece following the multi-Oscar triumph, Oppenheimer (2023). The production for this highly-anticipated movie, titled The Odyssey, officially kicked off in February 2025. I simply can’t wait to immerse myself in another unforgettable cinematic journey by the legendary director!
The epic film adaptation of The Odyssey is set for release across various formats, including IMAX and IMAX 70mm, in U.S. cinemas on July 17, 2026.
