Everyone loves Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and many consider it the best Spider-Man movie ever made. Released in 2018, the Sony film is now a popular choice on Netflix. It tells the story of Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) as he becomes Spider-Man and teams up with other Spider-People from different universes.
Netflix’s U.S. streaming chart now features Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse at number four. The films currently ahead of it are Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story, Man on Fire, and Ford v Ferrari. Rounding out the top 10 are Priscilla, Pitch Perfect 2, KPop Demon Hunters, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the original Pitch Perfect, and Wrath of Man.
Although popular, Into the Spider-Verse isn’t currently in Netflix’s worldwide Top 10 because it’s not available for streaming in most countries outside of the U.S.
The animated film was a critical and commercial success, earning high praise (97% on the Tomatometer and 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes) and bringing in $393.8 million worldwide despite costing only $90 million to make. Its success spawned a 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which was also very well-received (95% from critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes) and earned $690 million globally from a $100 million budget.

After several delays, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is now scheduled to hit theaters on June 18, 2027. The continued popularity of Into the Spider-Verse – especially how well it’s done on streaming – suggests the third movie, continuing Miles’ story and featuring other Spider-People, will also be a success.
With lots of people watching on Netflix, the Spider-Verse franchise is staying popular as they develop a new movie focusing on Spider-Punk. Daniel Kaluuya, the voice of a beloved character in Across the Spider-Verse, mentioned in December that he and his writing partner, Ajon Singh, were nearly done with the first draft of the script.
Tom Holland will return as Spider-Man in the live-action film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, coming to theaters on July 31, 2026. This will be his first time playing the role since 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are back as MJ and Ned, and they’ll be joined by Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, and Sadie Sink, who has a currently unknown role. This release happens before any of the upcoming Spider-Verse projects.
Whether you’re rewatching the amazing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on Netflix or excited about the upcoming movies and shows, it’s a fantastic time to be a Spider-Man fan – especially with all the different versions of the character appearing now!
