Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be missing this original MCU star

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature familiar faces like Tom Holland and Zendaya, a popular actor from previous Marvel movies won’t be involved in the new film.

Okay, so the new Spider-Man movie – the fourth one with Tom Holland – is finally coming out! It’s going to be about Peter Parker trying to pick up the pieces after everything that happened in No Way Home. Basically, everyone he knows has forgotten he’s Spider-Man, and he’s gotta figure things out from scratch. It’s gonna be interesting to see how he deals with that!

Jon Favreau’s character, Happy Hogan—the head of security for Stark Industries—has always been a father figure to Peter Parker. However, he won’t be offering support in the upcoming story, Brand New Day.

I was really bummed to hear that Jon Favreau won’t be back for the next movie! He actually announced it himself on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week, and it’s definitely a bit of a letdown.

Jon Favreau revealed a major plot point: his character, Happy, doesn’t appear in the movie because he’s lost his memory. He explained that Happy has no recollection of him, though there’s a possibility they could cross paths again in the future.

What to Read Next

The actor jokingly pointed out that the previous installment ended with his character losing his memory. He expressed confusion about the new story, saying he hadn’t been filled in on the details. ‘If I’m going to be involved,’ he added, ‘they need to let me know soon!’ He also directed the original two Iron Man movies.

The final scene of No Way Home showed what became of Happy and Peter’s relationship. After the memory spell and the loss of Aunt May, they unexpectedly met while visiting May’s grave.

Happy and Peter’s aunt had become a couple in the third movie, but she sadly passed away. Although Peter knows Happy, Happy doesn’t remember him because of a spell that erased his memories.

Although there’s a story-based explanation for why Happy isn’t present, Jon Favreau’s work on The Mandalorian and Grogu – where he directed and co-wrote episodes – probably kept him very busy.

Along with Holland and Zendaya (who plays MJ Jones-Watson), the main cast of Brand New Day also features Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in cinemas on 31 July.
