The new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is expected to have more villains than any previous Spider-Man film. Reports suggest at least ten different enemies will appear, greatly expanding the range of characters Spider-Man battles.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumored to have more than nine villains
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will include over nine villains, a new MCU record.
According to insider Alex Perez, who shared the information on Patreon and was reported by The Cosmic Circus, the upcoming film will feature lesser-known villains instead of famous groups like the Sinister Six. Confirmed villains include Scorpion (played by Michael Mando), Tombstone (Marvin Jones III), and William Metzger (Tramell Tillman). Metzger is the leader of a group that opposes mutants and is specifically targeting Jean Grey (Sadie Sink), suggesting a connection to the X-Men storyline.
Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Hulk, and Jon Bernthal is confirmed to return as the Punisher. While not strictly villains, both characters pose challenges for Spider-Man – Hulk is being described as incredibly aggressive, and the Punisher operates in a morally ambiguous way. Adding them to the already announced nine villains brings the total number of potential adversaries to eleven. However, according to @MyTimeToShineH, the actual number of adversaries could be even higher if you count everyone involved.
Rumors suggest that several lesser-known villains will briefly appear in the opening scene of the movie. Sources like @Cryptic4KQual and Daniel Richtman say these could include characters like Tarantula, Boomerang, 8-Ball, the Jackal (Miles Warren), and the Enforcers – Montana, Fancy Dan, and the Ox.
Jacey Sink is rumored to be involved in a storyline connected to Sara Grey, Jean Grey’s sister. It’s believed that Sara’s death will lead Damage Control to investigate Jean. Director Destin Daniel Cretton shared that the team is enthusiastically focused on all aspects of the film, from the costume design and action sequences to crafting a compelling and unique emotional story and overall experience.
Tom Holland mentioned in behind-the-scenes footage that this was the first time they’d ever had fans present on set for the first day of filming, and he’s thrilled to be able to share the experience with them.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to release on July 31, 2026.
