‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Plot Synopsis Surfaces Online From Art Book

Although the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day hasn’t been released yet, information about the movie is starting to appear in promotional materials. This will be the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the last one before Avengers: Doomsday. So far, we know Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film will include appearances by The Hulk, the Punisher, Yelena Belova, Scorpion, and Sadie Sink, who will be playing a new, currently unknown character.

Details about the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day have emerged from the listing for a companion book, Spider-Man: Brand New Day – The Art of the Movie, on the Penguin Random House website. The book, available August 4, 2026, for $50, reveals where the film fits within the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline and hints at key plot points. According to the book’s description, the movie will involve a villainous plot and secrets from Peter Parker’s past resurfacing.

It’s been four years since we last saw our favorite wall-crawler, and a lot has changed. Peter Parker is gone, but Spider-Man is still swinging around New York, keeping everyone safe. Life was good, but then a really strange series of crimes started happening, and it pulled Spider-Man into a mystery way bigger than anything he’s dealt with before. He’s at the top of his game, sure, but to solve this, he’s going to have to confront some things from his past – and deal with the consequences of his choices!

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Place in the MCU Timeline, Villains, and More

Sony Pictures Releasing

The phrase “four years have gone by” likely refers to the four and a half year gap between the releases of Spider-Man: No Way Home (December 17, 2021) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026). It could also indicate the passage of time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home was set in December 2024, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will probably take place in 2028. This means Peter Parker will likely be nearing the end of his college years, and the film will be set in the same year as the post-credit scene for Thunderbolts and Avengers: Doomsday.

The storyline in Brand New Day features a lot of villains because Spider-Man gets caught up in a major crime investigation. Michael Mando is returning as Mac Gargan / Scorpion, a character fans have been waiting to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since a brief appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Marvin Jones III will play Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone, a powerful crime boss with incredibly tough skin. Leaked images also hint that Boomerang and Tarantula will be involved. This widespread criminal activity explains how The Punisher becomes part of the story, and it could even cause Bruce Banner to lose control and transform into The Hulk.

A major question surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day is how events from Peter Parker’s history will affect the story. The most prominent issue is the memory wipe Doctor Strange cast in No Way Home, which made everyone forget Peter’s identity. Zendaya is expected to return as MJ, but how big her part will be is still a mystery. Fans are also speculating about the role of Sadie Sink’s character, with guesses ranging from Jean Grey from the X-Men to the powerful multiversal being Shathra. While the movie’s official summary offered some clues, it created even more questions that hopefully the upcoming trailer will address.
