After a five-year hiatus, Spider-Man is swinging back into cinemas! Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now playing in the UK, and early signs suggest it lives up to the hype.
This Marvel movie, the fourth in the series, follows Peter as he deals with the aftermath of No Way Home. In that previous film, everyone – even his best friends – completely forgot who he was, which had a huge impact on his life.
Four years after the previous events, he’s trying to start over in New York City when he runs into his ex-girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon). But things get complicated when a new danger appears and his superpowers start acting up.

The main actors are returning, and we’re excited to welcome Sadie Sink, known from Stranger Things, to the cast in an undisclosed role. There’s also a change in leadership, as Destin Daniel Cretton will now direct, replacing Jon Watts.
Despite this, the film Brand New Day has received positive reviews, currently holding a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 145 reviews. While still very high, this is slightly lower than the approval ratings of previous films in the series, which were 92%, 91%, and 93% respectively.

Destin Daniel Cretton directs this fun, fast-paced movie with a lot of energy and heart, and smartly avoids getting bogged down in complicated multiverse storylines.
