Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse gets exciting update after long delay
As a lifelong fan of the Spider-Man franchise, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and impatience as the directors for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse have finally been announced! The journey of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy through the multiverse has captivated me since the release of Into the Spider-Verse, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting their next adventure.
The upcoming movie titled “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” has finally revealed its official directors following a significant wait.
The animated movie serves as a finale for the Spider-Verse trilogy, carrying on the interdimensional escapades of Miles Morales, played by Shameik Moore, and Gwen Stacy, portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld.
2023 saw the launch of “Across the Spider-Verse”, and I, along with many other fans, eagerly awaited its sequel. Originally slated for a March 2024 release, it seemed like we were just around the corner from witnessing more spider-filled adventures on the big screen. However, as fate would have it, the production has encountered some setbacks, causing a bit of a delay in its release.
Despite not having a set release date yet, there’s an exciting piece of news about the film: Deadline has confirmed that Bob Persichetti, who co-directed the initial movie, “Into the Spider-Verse”, along with Justin K Thompson, will be taking on the director roles.
It was previously unclear whether the announcement marked a fresh direction, but director Chris Miller, co-creator of the franchise with Phil Lord, has confirmed on Twitter that Jon M. Persichetti and Kemp Powers have been the intended directors for the third movie all along.
As a diehard fan, let me clarify a common misconception: Bob and Justin have been the masterminds behind BTSV (Beyond the Spider-Verse) from day one. Their exceptional work has never wavered. Today, they were officially announced as the directors, but it’s not that they’re new to the role – they’ve been here all along, delivering top-notch creativity. Miller shared this news today.
Persichetti and Thompson, with Thompson being one of the co-directors for the second movie, shared their thoughts after hearing the news. They expressed, “It’s an incredible honor to have been a part of Miles’ journey since the start, and directing the final chapter of his story is more thrilling than words can express.

Despite having directors for “Beyond the Spider-Verse”, a definite release date has yet to be announced. However, Deadline recently reported that Sony does not currently plan to unveil the animated movie in 2025.
