Spider-Man 4 Update Reveals [Spoiler] Is Depressed in MCU Movie

It’s understandable if Peter Parker would be down after losing his memories and being forgotten by his loved ones in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. But a new report suggests that, surprisingly, Spider-Man will be the one offering support to another popular character who’s struggling emotionally when the Marvel Cinematic Universe film begins.

Which MCU character will be depressed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

X user @DivinitySeeker1 claims that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk appears weakened and changed at the beginning of the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. They say he’s a far cry from the stronger, more confident Hulk seen in the 2022 series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Okay, so here’s a little scoop I’m getting about the upcoming film. Forget seeing Bruce Banner immediately transform into the Hulk. Apparently, we’re starting with a much more vulnerable Banner – think a really down, human Bruce, struggling with life. The interesting part? It’s Peter Parker, Spider-Man, who’s going to be the one to help him work through his issues and get back on his feet. It sounds like a really compelling dynamic, focusing on the human side of the Hulk for a change.

This is a significant step for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk character. It’s particularly interesting considering the recent She-Hulk finale, where Hulk revealed he has a son named Skaar. Skaar was born during Hulk’s time on the planet Sakaar, between the events of the movies Avengers: Age of Ultron and Thor: Ragnarok.

Now that She-Hulk has left Spider-Man’s life and things were looking good for him, the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline needs to show how the Hulk ended up so unhappy in the years that followed.

Recent leaks suggest Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, will be changing into a ‘Grey Hulk’ form in the upcoming ‘Brand New Day’ storyline. This version of the Hulk will act as a supporting villain for Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. The transformation is apparently caused by Jean Grey, who the Punisher is currently protecting from the organization Damage Control.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
