The latest Spider-Man 4 update is bad news for Peter Parker.
The next Spider-Man movie, currently titled Spider-Man 4 or Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be in US theaters next summer. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is directing. Tom Holland will be back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will return as MJ and Ned, respectively.

Earlier this year, a report surfaced indicating Marvel was searching for an actor similar to Harris Dickinson for a part in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day project. Reporter Daniel Richtman recently clarified this, stating the role was likely for Mary Jane Watson’s new boyfriend.
Jeremy Allen White, who recently starred in films like ‘The Iron Claw’ (2023) and ‘Babygirl’ (2024), isn’t currently cast in ‘Spider-Man 4.’ Also, none of the actors announced for the film look much like him, so it’s unknown who, if anyone, will play Mary Jane’s new love interest. It’s important to note that this is just a rumor; Marvel hasn’t confirmed that MJ will even have a boyfriend in the movie.
Considering Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded with Ned and MJ losing their memories of Peter, it’s reasonable to wonder how they’ll be involved in future stories. A plotline where MJ has a new boyfriend would fit naturally with that development.
The upcoming Spider-Man 4 will star Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon, alongside Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, plus Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Trammell Tillman.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
