Spider-Man 4 gets a huge update
As a lifelong Marvel fan who grew up watching Tobey Maguire swing through New York City, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the news of Spider-Man 4! Destin Daniel Cretton, the man behind Shang-Chi, is in talks to direct the next installment. With each new director comes a fresh perspective on our friendly neighborhood Spiderman, and I can’t wait to see what Cretton brings to the table.
Spider-Man 4 has received a huge update.
As per reports from Deadline, director Destin Daniel Cretton is engaged in discussions about helming the eagerly awaited sequel of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This upcoming movie is a joint production between Sony and Marvel.
Jon Watts, who directed the last three Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland, and Marc Webb, responsible for the two Amazing Spider-Man movies featuring Andrew Garfield, have been preceded by Cretton as the fourth solo Spider-Man feature director.
Notably, Sam Raimi helmed the Spider-Man movie series from the 2000s, with Tobey Maguire portraying the leading character, Spider-Man.
In December 2021, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” hit the screens and shattered numerous box office records. The film soared to become the seventh highest-grossing movie ever, raking in a staggering $1.92 billion globally, and garnered the most favorable critiques of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy.
After the third installment’s triumphant debut, fans can’t wait for more thrilling escapades featuring our beloved wall-crawling genius.
Last month, the head of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Kevin Feige, shared an encouraging status report about the upcoming film “Spider-Man 4”. He mentioned that work is underway, even though it’s currently in its initial phases.
Amy Pascal and I are currently handling it, as we’ve got some writers set to submit a draft to us in the near future, according to what he shared with io9.
In a recent conversation with CinemaBlend, Feige hinted that due to Watts’ involvement in other projects, it seems probable that a different director will be required for the fourth movie in the series.
In April, Holland himself expressed interest in another movie, hinting that he might return to play Spider-Man’s character, Peter Parker.
He stated to Deadline, “My existence and profession are deeply linked to Spider-Man. Therefore, when asked if I’d continue to be involved, my response is affirmative; I’m eager for more opportunities.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I can confidently say that our team is unmatched in their expertise, tirelessly working on whatever narrative unfolds. However, until we’ve solved the puzzle, it’s crucial we uphold the legacy we’ve built. The third installment was exceptionally unique, and we’re committed to making sure we handle it with the respect it deserves.
Spider-Man 4 doesn’t have a release date yet.
