Spice Girls ‘overrule Geri Horner to plough ahead with Netflix biopic about the band’s rise to fame after she derailed project amid ongoing feud’

As a huge Spice Girls fan, I’m hearing some really frustrating news! Apparently, Geri Horner has caused a major setback with the planned Netflix biopic about our favorite group. It was supposed to be a huge deal, potentially earning each of the Spice Girls a million pounds, but now it sounds like the other members are stepping in to try and get things back on track after Geri threw a wrench in the works.

Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham are moving forward with plans as a group, even without all five members agreeing – a strategy they previously used in 2019 when they toured without Victoria Beckham.

Sources say discussions about a potential project and tour were progressing positively until Geri Halliwell withdrew her participation. This decision followed a worsening conflict with Mel B, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the tour plans.

Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice, is said to have rejected a highly profitable television deal. Reports suggest she and her husband, Christian, were offered a reality show that would have delved into their private life, especially following recent issues like Christian’s online scandal and his departure from Red Bull.

According to a source, Geri Halliwell has been hesitant about moving forward with the Spice Girls for nearly a year. The other members are eager to continue, especially since next year will be the 30th anniversary of their first hit, ‘Wannabe’.

Several projects are being considered to celebrate the event, such as a documentary and a potential concert or tour by the band. However, a theatrical production wouldn’t require a significant time commitment from the group members.

According to sources, all that’s needed now is for them to officially support the project and offer their feedback. However, that process has stalled, and the team is eager to move forward.

Daily Mail have contacted all five Spice Girls for comment.

The streaming service apparently gave the band, who were reportedly fighting, a tough choice: resolve their differences or the show about them would be made without their participation, similar to how the controversial series The Crown was produced.

As a big fan, I’m hearing the people in charge really want everyone involved and are eager for all their ideas. I mean, they are pop royalty, so their opinions definitely matter!

Netflix isn’t afraid to take risks. They famously created ‘The Crown’ despite objections from the royal family, proving they’re willing to act independently when necessary.

The project is just beginning, so we have lots of opportunity to get all five Spice Girls on board.

According to a source, the plan was to feature five different actresses playing the roles of Posh Spice, Ginger Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, and Baby Spice.

This opportunity would have earned each of them about £1 million with virtually no effort on their part.

As talks progressed, people learned that Geri had raised concerns, and as a result, the original plans were scrapped.

Daily Mail contacted Geri’s reps for comment at the time.

This news follows Victoria Beckham’s recent suggestion that the Spice Girls might reunite, as the group nears their 30-year anniversary.

Even though they deliberately sought the spotlight and created popular songs like “Wannabe,” “Stop,” “Spice Up Your Life,” and “Too Much,” the Spice Girls broke up in 2000.

I was so excited to hear Victoria talking on SiriusXM! She actually said she’s thinking about the possibility of the group getting back together! She admitted she’s ‘tempted’ by it, which is amazing news for us fans. I’m really hoping this means we might get to see them perform again!

She said: ‘It would be tempting. But could I take on a world tour? No I can’t. I have a job…’

Wouldn’t it be amazing to see the Spice Girls perform at the Sphere? I think it’s a brilliant idea! Though, honestly, I’m not sure I could still hit the notes – I wasn’t much of a singer to begin with!

Next May, No Doubt will kick off a 12-show reunion at the famous concert hall that has played host to major artists like U2, The Eagles, and the Backstreet Boys.

As for the Spice Girls, the band hasn’t performed in the US since their 2008 reunion tour.

Their latest reunion came in 2019, though Victoria did not rejoin the women.

Despite a successful tour in the UK, the band declined an offer to perform as a four-piece in a Las Vegas residency after reuniting.
