Spencer Pratt, known for his success on reality TV and social media, is now entering the Los Angeles mayoral race, bringing his ambitious drive to a new arena.
Former reality star from The Hills, Spencer Pratt, was spotted collecting signatures on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles on Wednesday. He also made a statement by having his wife, Heidi Montag, printed on his shirt.
Chris Pratt, 42, was wearing a black T-shirt with a fun picture of his wife looking like a beauty queen – she was wearing a sparkly tiara in the photo.
He gathered a small group of people around the table and chatted with them, using enthusiastic hand movements and a warm, inviting smile.
Pratt posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing him collecting signatures in a parking lot. He was trying to get support from people walking and driving by, explaining he needed signatures and addresses from Los Angeles residents to qualify for the ballot and win the election on June 2nd.
Pratt urged supporters to visit his campaign headquarters at 18065 Ventura Boulevard, asking for their signatures. This plea came after his sister, Stephanie Pratt, publicly criticized his campaign for mayor, calling it a vote for ‘stupidity’.
I was watching Pratt, absolutely glued, when he just stopped talking – right in the middle of a sentence! – to try and get someone driving by to sign his list. He was practically waving, begging them to pull over, but sadly, they just kept going. It was heartbreaking, honestly. He really wanted that signature!
On January 7th, the TV personality announced his candidacy for mayor of Los Angeles at a protest called “They Let Us Burn!” held in Pacific Palisades, near the site where the home of Pratt and Montag – where they planned to raise their sons, Gunner, eight, and Ryker, three – was destroyed.
It was the one-year anniversary of the terrible wildfires that claimed the lives of at least 31 people and ruined thousands of homes in Altadena and Pacific Palisades.
Heidi and I lost everything we owned in a fire on January 7th, 2025. My parents also lost their home, and all the memories they’d made there over the years,” Pratt shared with the audience, calling it the “worst day of my life,” according to Fox News.
He explained that he had a wonderful childhood in this neighborhood and always imagined his sons would experience the same close-knit community. He was heartbroken when that future suddenly seemed impossible.
Pratt has voiced his outrage at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
He said the most upsetting thing about the whole experience was realizing it could have been avoided.
Pratt criticized the state for years of neglecting forest management and wildfire prevention, which he said contributed to the current problems. He also claimed the state has made it difficult for insurance companies to help people recover from wildfires.
Montag recently shared with Gold Derby that they couldn’t afford to rebuild their home and are currently without a permanent place to live.
We simply don’t have the money to rebuild,” Montag explained. “We were already struggling to afford the mortgage on the house.”
After working our entire lives, we finally saved enough to buy a home. Now, after losing everything, we’re heartbroken and don’t know what to do next. Honestly, we feel completely lost and uprooted right now, and rebuilding just isn’t something we can face.
Many people in the community are facing the same hardship, which is really tough. It’s easy to forget that not everyone is able to rebuild after this. A lot of these families have owned their homes for 40 or 50 years, back when this area of Los Angeles was much more affordable, she explained.
