Spencer Pratt announced he’s running for Mayor of Los Angeles, a year after wildfires ravaged California and burned down his house.
The 42-year-old reality star, married to Heidi Montag, 39, surprised everyone with a major announcement while at the They Let Us Burn! protest in Palisades on Wednesday.
In an interview with the New York Post, Pratt stated that Los Angeles’s current system isn’t just facing difficulties – it’s completely failing. He described it as rigged to benefit those in power and their associates, leaving everyone else to suffer through dangerous air quality. Pratt believes continuing with the status quo will be disastrous for the city and he’s no longer willing to wait for leaders to address the problem effectively.
I’m running for mayor because I believe we need real change. This isn’t just about winning an election – it’s about fixing a broken system and bringing everything to light.
They allowed the situation to escalate and caused harm before, during, and after the incident, without taking any responsibility. This was a clear case of carelessness, and they failed to prevent it.
This wasn’t an unavoidable accident; it happened because of someone’s actions, and we need those responsible to be held accountable. Pratt didn’t say which political party he’s affiliated with.

The fire completely destroyed the house where Pratt, Montag, and their two sons lived in Pacific Palisades.
After the fire, Pratt searched through the remains of his house with Montag, hoping to find any surviving keepsakes or personal items.
The reality TV star also took photos of a burnt tricycle belonging to one of his two children.
The former star of The Hills wore a black T-shirt and khaki shorts while looking at what was left of his house, which had been mostly destroyed, with only a few walls still standing.

‘My parents house gone,’ he wrote along with a string of crying emojis.
The couple, known from the TV show The Hills, shared their shock and sadness about the loss in a TikTok video.
In various TikToks, Montag grew emotional about the blaze as she processed the stunning loss.
Sitting on the couch with her child, Montag burst into tears, saying, “It’s so sad our house is gone.” She trailed off, adding, “Everything we worked for…”
Her child offered a welcome distraction, gently touching her face and bringing a smile to her lips. She finished the video with a happy giggle, saying ‘Thank you’.
confirming the loss of their home.
‘While we ended up losing our house in the fire and thank God we are safe, so thank you to everyone who’s checking, thank you for all your prayers, thank you for your thoughts. It’s,’ she said, emotion growing on her face. ‘No words.’
Pratt attempted to cheer himself up on Wednesday with some bagels.
The reality TV star, spotted Tuesday observing the approaching fire near his house, said he was shocked and acknowledged his video appeared erratic.
He cheerfully explained that after losing everything in a house fire – and watching his parents suffer the same fate – there was one small comfort: a bag of bagels.
I’m still reeling from this, so please excuse if what I’m about to say doesn’t make much sense – it might be the strangest thing you’ve ever read.
