“Special” new psychological thriller from Slow Horses producer shares exciting update

The psychological thriller produced by Anna O’Malley from Slow Horses, titled “Better,” has just revealed an exhilarating piece of news.

In the forthcoming movie, Tom Hopper plays both Henry and Patrick, two long-separated identical twins, who’ve led distinct lives due to their time apart. As Henry grows envious of his sibling, this triggers an “immense crisis of identity,” posing potential perils.

According to Deadline, the movie written by Omid Ghaffarian and directed by Daniel Sharp has completed filming as of July 15th. It’s been announced that O’Malley, who will produce the fifth season of Slow Horses, is also serving as a producer for Better.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that this project is something truly unique. It explores the extremes of mental health journeys, and it does so by weaving the stories of two long-lost twin brothers. This intriguing tale is brought to life by none other than Hopper, who you might recognize as Luther Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy.

I’ve long been eager to try portraying twins. Exploring these two unique personalities was an enjoyable and challenging task, as I strove to bring out their distinct traits and convince the audience that they were separate characters rather than just one actor playing multiple roles.

In addition to acting in the movie, the actor is also involved in its production, working alongside his wife Laura Higgins. Hopper explains: “As an actor, you can sometimes feel detached from the production side… From a creative perspective, it was truly rewarding for both me and Laura to be part of every discussion.

According to the tagline for Better, Henry’s feelings of jealousy are rooted in his troubled marriage and unfulfilling job, and these emotions deepen after the passing of his distant father. As he rekindles his friendship with the seemingly fortunate Patrick, Henry experiences a downward psychological spiral.

In the near future, Better is anticipated to make its debut on cinemas, whereas Slow Horses, O’Malley’s initial work, will appear on screens within a couple of months. The much-awaited spy drama on Apple TV+ is scheduled for a comeback in September.

Even though seasons 5 and 6 have not been broadcast yet, the streaming service has ensured more continuity for the series by confirming earlier this month that a seventh season, adapting Mick Herron’s “Bad Actors”, will be produced.

Better has no release date. Slow Horses returns on Apple TV+ on 24 September.
