As a die-hard fan of suspenseful and spine-chilling content, I eagerly await the arrival of Netflix’s upcoming miniseries, “1992”. Having binge-watched series like “The Haunting of Hill House”, “Marianne”, “Midnight Mass” and “The Fall of the House of Usher”, I can confidently say that this new offering from Netflix promises to delve into the darkest corners of human fear.
It’s indisputable that Netflix has produced some powerfully chilling horror and suspenseful series. They’re now preparing to debut their inaugural miniseries titled “1992“, which undoubtedly carries a very bleak narrative.
If you’re a fan of series like “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Marianne,” “Midnight Mass,” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” you’re aware that Netflix isn’t shy about delving into the chilling and eerie. And, judging by its description, “1992” seems poised to further explore unnerving themes.
1992 was both helmed and jointly created by Alex de la Iglesia, who also directed The Day of the Beast. In this movie, we find Catholic priest Father Angel Berriartua on a mission to locate the antichrist, rumored to be an infant. Assisting Berriartua in his quest are a heavy metal enthusiast and a clairvoyant.
Jorge Guerricaechevarria is the screenwriter behind the new miniseries. In 2009 and 2021, he won the prestigious Goya award for his work on “Cell 211” and “Las Leyes de la Frontera,” respectively. He was also nominated for his work on “The Day of The Beast,” “La comunidad,” and “The Oxford Murders.” Guerricaechevarria’s distinguished career as a screenwriter can be traced back to 1993.
In the year 1992, Amparo (Marian Alvarez) becomes determined to uncover the truth following an unusual explosion that takes her loved one’s life. Along her journey in pursuit of answers, she enlists the aid of Richi (Fernando Valdivielse), a former police officer struggling with alcoholism and now working as a security professional.
In unison, they are probing into a string of enigmatic homicides that appear to adhere to a specific design: each victim has been incinerated, and accompanying every corpse is a doll resembling Curro, the mascot of Seville’s 1992 Expo (hence the title of this miniseries).
1992 will be available to stream on Netflix December 13
1992 was set and shot in Seville and Madrid, featuring Fernando Valdivielso, Marian Alvarez, Paz Vega, and Carlos Santos. This Spanish television show is known for its blend of tension and political drama, often referred to as a “thriller infused with suspense and political intrigue.
Although Netflix hasn’t unveiled the official trailer for the series titled “1992” just yet, the captivating images and concept have certainly piqued my interest, and I suspect it has done the same for you too.
