As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of third-person action-adventure games. But when it comes to South of Midnight, the latest offering from Xbox Game Studios and Compulsion Games, I’m more than intrigued. The swampy Southern Gothic folk tale with its bizarre creatures and macabre atmosphere has piqued my curiosity like a rusty hook in the murky depths of a haunted swamp.
Today, Xbox Game Studios and developer Compulsion Games have released a new documentary titled “South of Midnight,” providing a 30-minute glimpse into the third-person action-adventure game created by the minds behind “We Happy Few” and “Contrast.
Under the title ‘Exploring Hazel’s Voyage’, this document provides an insightful peek into the creative process and establishment of the setting for the strange, ghostly Southern folklore story, complete with its peculiar characters and eerie ambiance.
In the newly released video, you can find insights from the Compulsion team about aspects such as the game’s music, art, gameplay, and storyline. The comprehensive video, approximately 30 minutes long, is available for viewing below.
2025 will see the release of “South of Midnight” on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms. This title will be accessible from day one through Xbox Game Pass.
